the power to be a god
Advantages: the story Disadvantages: complicated
This comic is one of the work of Takeshi Obata, who is one of my favorite artists I like it because the results are typical of his work, if you are a fan of Obata then when you saw the results of his work, you must realized without having to ask who the author is. This story starts from a high school student who is tired with the many crimes that happen, one day he found a book that could kill anyone just by writing the person's name in the book. ... ...without crime, where he was the god. but the plan did not go as planned as the world's best detectives trying to catch him. Since then there was race of strategy, and do not expect that you will easily understand the story, but it is complexity that is the main attraction of this book. I think overall this book is very entertaining, especially for those who loved the thriller genre. Obata's drawings are also very good, so not only interesting story ...

Kya!!! Bishonen, Bishonen, Bishonen!
Advantages: exquisite artwork, detailed plot and well developed charachters Disadvantages: none, unless reading a graphic novel "emabarrases you", but hey, that's your issue
...up watching Ghost Hunt and Vampire Princess Miyu when a suggestion is sent my way that I might love mangaka Matsuri Hino's recent offering Vampire Knight which had just been made into an anime (the second season just began last week in Japan). I always prefer to read the original manga first so that I know the characters and original story quite well, as even though I do watch English subtitled versions of the anime, I don't necessarily read what ... ...this sort of genre, as Vampire Knight is a shojou manga about forbidden love and loss. Not to say that the manga overall is sappy, far from it. There is plenty of violence and sexual tension to be had along the away, not to mention the blood flows freely.
The premise is this: one snowy night five year old Yuuki finds herself out in the snow, not knowing who she was or how she got there. The snow had red everywhere, and it was then a man came out ...

Bleach - the manga
Advantages: A great story with original characters Disadvantages: Not for everyone
This is the earliest volume of "Bleach" on ciao but rather than just review it I will give you a brief summary of volumes 1-13 and then give my thoughts on volume 14. Bleach is one of the most popular manga's in the world at the moment. Manga is a Japanese form of comic book or graphic novel. You may associate the word "comic" with kids reading Spiderman but that is not the way it is thought of in Japan. Comics are not just for children. There is ... ...for kids but a lot of them are aimed at people in their late teens or even early twenties. It is not uncommon for adults over 40 to read manga. Bleach is aimed at quite a range of ages. It may be too mature and contain too much blood for early teens but it is quite common that people in their early twenties read Bleach. Since its translation into English it has proved to be a big hit in the west and it is proving to be a catalyst that leads to other ...

Bleach 15
Advantages: A great story and great art Disadvantages: Too short for the money!
The 15th volume from Tite Kubo's epic manga.
The story picks up where it left off in the previous volume. The main character "Ichigo" spends most of the volume training to master a new power that will help him in his quest to save his friend Rukia. It does annoy me when the protagonist doesnt really do anything for a hundred or so pages but in Bleach it is different. There are many other battles going on through the story and the other characters ... ...is some great animation in this book. The battles seem to fly out of the page being wild and exadurated. Detail is retained however and it is a really impressive thing to see. I can only imagine how difficult it is to draw someone getting more powerful. This series centers around people gaining new levels of strength and speed and the animation makes it very easy to see. This also helps in building a character/reader relationship. Tite Kubo is the ...

Ravenor - Warhammer 40 000, A truely awesome book
Advantages: Great pacing, amazing character development, surreal setting (almost Noir) Disadvantages: It will end once you have read it
First off let me point out that if you are not into Warhammer or Sci-Fi then this isnt going to make you a die hard fan. But if you do happen to fall into either of those two rest assured this is one awesome book. We have a few brooding psychological parts, plenty of gore and violence and dare I say a little social commentary masked as filler? YES I DO. Sadly I cant get too much into the story as well, that would ruin it for you, and we dont want ... ...good pace through out and at no point did I tire of the book. In fact I read it all in just over a day, as I was unable to put it down.. Anyone that has heard of Dan Abnett knows that even at his worst, its an enjoyable book, and this is not his worst. ...
