... Sure enough, one day, when his mother was out, we dived into her wardrobe and buried under those horrible 60's clothes, was a little shining gem, Command and Conquer. Command & Conquer: Generals
One of PC strategy gaming's most influential franchises comes scarily up to date, inviting

the player to take command of technically advanced armies in a world that's teetering on the brink of war. Command & Conquer: Generals also successfully maintains the hybrid of strategy and battle that have made its ancestors so revered. The game presents three armies in need of command--the US, the Chinese and the Global Liberation. The game is subsequently broken down into 27 single-player missions. To throw in a further twist, you now command a general. As you progress, the general gets promoted and this opens up new technologies and tactics. The most obvious move forward is in the graphics, with the action more close-up and detailed than before. In some ways, it takes a leaf out of the book of the excellent Medieval: Total War, but Generals is a strong game in its own right. Made suitably accessible by a tutorial campaign, it's surprisingly simple to control yet presents numerous options to mull over in every situation. The missions are varied and challenging and the arsenal of weapons--from hardware such as a scud storm through to a simple kamikaze car driver--keeps the brain constantly ticking. Perhaps it doesn't stray too far from the tried and tested formula, choosing to do most of its building on the sturdy foundations set over the years. But there's little denying that this is polished, highly addictive and engrossing entertainment. And if you play it online, it could very easily eat your life away. --Simon Brew
Advantages: Just incredable Disadvantages: The AI is lacking, but come on, it's so old.
...a little shining gem, Command and Conquer. We played it for an hour, constantly peeping through a strategic slit in the curtains, in case his mother turned up unexpectedly early. For that hour we were spellbound. The graphics, sound, interface, completely blew us away. Then every possible opportunity, I was there. We played through it together and shared the pain, laughter and frustration of two developing gamers.
I bought a computer my self some ... ...listen to my godfathers advice, and wait a while until the computers were a little faster. Who cared? I wanted my own machine. Looking back, I am appauled that I payed 1700 pounds for a Pentium 166. Well it ran C&C perfectly, so who was I to complain.

Advantages: Addictive, fun, enjoyable Disadvantages: Graphics are dated.
Command & Conquer has to be the best war-time strategy game ever. You take control of either The GDI, agood guy army or NOD a terrorist power hungry organisation. The game is set in the future and the world is under destruction due to a new mineral known as tiberium. This mineral is poisonous to humans and it kill all other plant life in its surroundings. However, this tiberium is worth big money when harvested so this is your source of income. The ... ...from a high-tech prison, building bases and destroying enemy bases, saving scientists and my favourite using toxic chemicals to destory people and buildings. There are many different structures and units to produce all with their own weaknesses and strenghts. This game is very addictive and is hard to put down, but now the game seem slighty dated so it is advisable to get the Windows version (which is all they sell now I think!). In the windowsversion ...

...the first game of the Command and conquer strategy game.
I played this game when I was 15 years old for the first time.I was introduced to this game by a friend of mine who was into computer games a lot.
What interested me about this game first of all was the intro, including all the movies that play after you have finished a level of the game to show how the story unfolds.
You can choose two sides,'The Brotherhood Of Nod',or 'Global Defence Initiative'.

Advantages: Budget price, excellent gameplay, very compulsive Disadvantages: Outdated and surpassed by its sequels
Command & Conquer has been reviewed many times, and is widely acclaimed as an excellent game. When it was released it dominated the strategy market, totally destroying previous competitors such as Dune II and the like. Now, however, it has bee released on budget and is competing with its own children; Red Alert, Tiberium Sun, and now Red Alert 2.
If you question whether C&C is a good game, see some of the other opinions here on Ciao. Even better, ... ...The quality of C&C is not really an issue, its whether to buy it now, after it has been released for several years.
In my opinion C&C has become the entry-level game for this genre. Available at a budget price on its own, or with various add-ons. The full C&C boxed set includes all of the official expansion disks and should keep you playing for years. However, it is not the latest and greatest. The recent release of Red Alert II has been met with ...

Command & Conquer is a real-time, tactical strategy game set in the future. Will you side with the evil Brotherhood of Nod, a terrorist faction bent on world dominance, or fight for the side of good and join the United Nations Global Defense Initiative (GDI)? Construct your base, harvest the resource known as Tiberium, and train minigunners, tanks, bikes, mechs, choppers, and jet fighters in an attempt to wipe your opponent off the map. Supporting ...
