Tiberian Sun is the third installment of the Command and Conquer series. At its most basic level the Command and Conquer series provides a strategy gaming experience of immense and elaborate proportions. Tiberian Sun is no exception.
The game reintroduces the near-apocalytic world of the future, where good and evil are divided by the forces that are the Global Defense Initiative (GDI) and the Brotherhood of Nod. There are two CDs - each one dedicated to a separate "side". The game isn't just a succession of levels one after another. Each level is linked to the other with video scenes (real actors too!), so I got the sense of being part of a storyline, and not just mindlessly blowing things up.
Much has been improved from the previous C&C games. A great deal more is made of the background and landscape, with such things as Ion storms, forest fires, and destructible terrain to keep the gamer busy. The lighting levels are constantly changing which gives the whole game a greater mood and attitude. The accompanying music to the game is also a bonus - I especially like how it responds to what I do, playing low and tense music when I'm building up my base, and picking up with a menacing beat when I move to attack the enemy.
Gameplay is also very good. The operating of Tiberian Sun remains true to the formula of the other two C&C games. It is not a hard control system to manage, although sometimes can be a little frustrating when you're in a rush. The designers have made a good effort in improving the units and weapons from the first game, and also adding several news and deadly innovations.
I am not a brilliant strategy gamer and yet I still enjoyed Tiberian Sun greatly (I actually still haven't finished it). I would say that it starts off fairly easy, but soon becomes more difficult with the enemy AI keeping up with your moves and plans. That keyword "strategy" becomes more important as you go on, and even if something does become too hard there is always a wealth of information built up on the internet to help.
Mentioning the internet, I would say that the game hasn't really been enjoyed until you go head to head on the multi-player feature.
Tiberian Sun is a great game. It's not without its minor pitfalls (graphics aren't always the best of quality, for instance) but it has certainly earned its right to be part of the C&C series.

Advantages: Two discs so you can lend one to a friend for multiplayer, you can change the graphical detail if its running to slow(very usefull in multiplayer) Disadvantages: Dont know about anyone else but I have to have Firestorm installed for the game to work.
Advantages: Excellent, addictive gameplay, exciting storylines, entertaining videos and cut scenes, brilliant array of units!!! Disadvantages: Too one sided NOD have a huge advantage over GDI, and you cannot save the video cut scenes which is frustrating!
Advantages: Great New Units, New Missions, and Balances the Sides Disadvantages: Still Lacking realistic AI Skirmish "Quick Rushes", ie- You never see an AI do a Dis' rush with a CarryAll!
