I actually found the amber spyglass to be the best of the trilogy and the involvement of Mary Malone and her discovery's was superb. I'm sure that there must be another volume in the offering somewhere as it is to me unfinished. As for being children's material, well all I can say is Harry Potter left me cold but this is superb ..Baz

I love these books! I never thought a 'book for children' could be so engrossing and I'm glad I listened to the friends who said 'you HAVE to read them' one evening as we sat in an Oxford pub! Karen
I really enjoyed all 3 books but I did feel that the issues raised in the third one were very challenging for children. Maybe I'm underestimating kids today though! Katy x
Daemons are nasty things. They sid idle, but are permanent resource hogs. Oooh not that kind of daemon? So odd seeing it spelt like that but not a good old software daemon. ;-)
