I had only hear of him via Spike Milligan who perhaps used him as a mentor! For years I thought W.M. was actually made up by him too! Kaz Kazzay 15.06.2006

For a really, truly AWFUL poem, read "A Tragedy" by the Victorian poet Theophile Marzials. He makes Billy McG seem like a genius. nd Theohile was a "serious" poet... Martinscholes 15.08.2004

I read another op on him recently in which the writer was confident he was unaware of his own short-comings :o) I love your "attempt" - such poor taste of subject and such huge fun with the almost-scanning! I was grinning throughout :o) Kirsty Kirsty1 23.04.2003

Hurrah! Another opinion on W McG. What a guy. Like Mog the cat, this man deserved a medal, and an egg for breakfast! jillmurphy 23.04.2003

This was amusing and informative. I never even knew this guy existed and I consider myself fairly well read. Unfortunately Scots literature is largely ignored until you reach University level, and I am afraid that after a year of Anglo Saxon at St Andrews (a course that all first year English students had to follow in my day, the Professor being rather a fan) I am afraid I forsook English for Art History, which will ever after bee known as a 'Prince William' degree. **sigh** fallen121 23.04.2003

I just love your parody ! After I read his journals, I became convinced that he had no idea how awful he was.Well, he's left us a wonderful legacy, and I'd rather read him than many other soi-disant 'poets'. Schmutzie 23.04.2003

Quite interesting to learn about 19th century's true life tragic romantic hero. Had some good history lesson in the wee hours. Good morning! Avril Elainebaba 23.04.2003
