Advantages: backlight, rigidity Disadvantages: bit on the slow side
The Compaq Aero 1550 will set you back in the region of £245.
I was not too impressed by this machine to tell the truth. The processor is very slow, coming in at 70 MHz (snooooooze). As per usual the screen size is 240 x 320 pixels.
On the bright side, you can add more memory via the CompactFlash slot. Also, it has a backlight, which I think is quite handy and is something they should put on more PDAs.
The layout is okay. There are four buttons ... ...into your calendar, contacts, notes and tasks.
It also has a jog dial, a one touch record button for making notes and a short cut to the QLaunch utility for direct access to your favourite apps. The other thing is the QUtilities-an applet for backup, diagnostics and programming game keys and such.
Although the screen is normal size it is monochrome, I much prefer colour screens to be honest. Although I wouldn't suggest throwing the thing about ...

Advantages: Small and light. Disadvantages: Unusable
I won my Compaq Aero 1500 in a competition. I connected up and was impressed with the way in sychronises with your PC for e-mails etc. But then I thought - right, what can I do with it. The screen was not colour and very difficult to read. If I tried loading anything on it, it ran incredibly slow and soon used up all spare memory.
Any entering of information was painfully slow and error prone dure to no keyboard. It was very longwinded to get to ... ...have always had Psion orgabisers, I thought the Aero would be an advanced type of machine. Technically it may be, but when it comes to functionality in everyday use, the Psion won every time. At least the psion has a database.
In the end I gave it to my son. I found it useless. ...

...I bought the Pocket PC Compaq because it was rechargeable and because it plays MP3s. I found the ability to store Word documents excellent as my job involves QAing a lot of Docs. The MP3 capability comes in really handy when I'm on planes and such, as does the MS Reader facility as I can download EBooks to read. The machine itself is pretty basic. The screen is B&W and as such means that you can't display jpgs and so on as wallpaper. The processor ... ...the price though you get a good machine which has more facilities than a Palm and is a lot slimmer and portable than the new colour pocket pcs. After all the point of these is to be a powerful diary, not a replacement for your laptop. Combine this with the drop in price that these have had and I would recommend it to anyone. I have never used a PDA so much, I couldn't do without it. ...
