Compaq Armada 110S - C 700 MHz - 12.1" TFT

Advantages: Inexpensive compared to similar spec'd machines
Disadvantages: Trackball mouse inefficient and not easy to use, build quality terrible, heavy with provided battery

...Having purchased my Compaq Armada 110s based mostly on budgetary constraints, I suppose I have to blame it on myself that this machine disappoints. I have owned the Armada for a year and a half now, and have experienced many problems both hardware- and software-related. To dismiss the software complaints, my laptop came installed with Windows Millenium, to which I have had to add several patches to make the machine work consistently. Compaq support people were reasonably helpful about these problems, although utlimately a self-help approach was the rule (they directed me to downloads on the web to try to fix the problems myself, and blamed it on the Microsoft software). Advantages: great display, wonderful drives, love the multibay!!,dvd,cdrw,floppy drive, compatible with windows xp. wonderful speed
Disadvantages: cooling system not that great, power inlet weak, a bit outdated

...this is steven krohmer and i am an owner of a compaq armada m700. This computer his a great notebook, that is powerful and sleek. and the battery is quite good . my experiences with this laptop have been very good, i have flash and sonic foundry acid on there and it works great. not to mention the good hard drive. the only bad things about the laptop is that the system file is fat32. Another bad thing about this great comuter is the small harddrive, and the bad power connection. back to the advantages, the compaq armada is a great work laptop. and it works good with games too if you are a gamer. right now i am watching a dvd and it works great. another wonderful feature of the compaq armada m700 is its powerful display. clear screen is wonderful. another great thing is the price. its conveniently priced at around 600 dollars which... ...). The majority of problems that arise with 700's is that they are, or were 4/5 months ago, prone to overheating and crashing, however this is also covered under the warranty. In fact the majority of faults, excluding accidental damage, are covered by the warranty. Whats the warranty cover like? Well the manufacturers warranty is for 1 year from date of purchase, and covers mechanical defects, it does NOT cover accidental damage. The repairs are carried out by the ONLY authorised Compaq laptop repairer in the UK (so ignore PC World when they are authorised to repair Compaq laptops) and is on a pick up and return basis. That is Compaq will collect the laptop from you and return it to you free of charge, in the majority of cases the turnaround for repairs of laptops is 7 business days.
