Advantages: Cheap, Small, Effective, Simple... Disadvantages: ...Simple, Not for Gamers
...settled on doing was a COMPAQ Evo, with a COMPAQ 5500 monitor from the library. The nice silver and black design looks appealing when you first set your eyes on it, and it's also smaller than most desktops I've seen (though I think I've seen smaller Dell's in the past), so will quite happily fit most places. In comparision to other objects, it's about the size of an X-box (original one), which may have been big for a console, but is small for a desktop ... ...about it (though please note I am only doing work on it, as opposed to playing Doom 3 or Half-life 2, which I doubt it could support). It seems to run pretty quickly, with the only slowness I've seen being when I tried to open I.E (could be down to the I.E. not being the greatest of programs though). Everything else opens speedily, the stuff I'm typing has no lag (always annoying for us touch typist's huh? ;-)). The hard drive is relatively small ...

Advantages: Small and Space Savvy Disadvantages: Not much power.
This computer makes a great internet/email and word processing computer. But, it lacks the processing power , graphics card, and sound that is required for the full fleged computer gamer. The space saving design of this computer is unmatched. It's small take up space is perfect for any house or business. It also makes for perfect office for the beginner use with it's 3 year warnety.
Even though the hardware is lacking- it makes up for that in it's ... ...beginning/intermediate user. It has many easy to use features that will increase your productivity and personality.
If your into gaming or media design- i'd reconsider this computer- but if you're someone that would just use it for writing papers and browsing the web: this is your kind of computer. ...

Advantages: Small, Powerful, easy to use Disadvantages: For more proffesional use it would need upgrading.
The compaq Evo D500 p4 1.6ghz is a good pc in many ways 1)The graphics card has a 3d hardware accelerator so you can play basic 3d games. This isn't integrated so that means that you can take it out and put in a new one I did exactly that and that turned it into a gaming machine. 2) It has 256 mb of Ram in one slot and there are three so again lots of room for upgrading but unless you want' to do a high powered process like video editing 256 is plenty ... ...has a 20gb Hard drive this is good because it means that the pc can stay small as this isn't a very big hard drive and if you are thinking of buying it do not be put off by this as you can get an external hard drive these days for about £60.
I gave this pc 4 stars because it is very practicle as it is small yet powerful and with 2 pci slots you could add things like usb 2.0 or firewire.
Great overall computer and i would reccomend to anyone no ...
