The keyboard has programmable hot-keys for accessing the Internet. The base configuration of the D510 has integrated graphics. And for businesses looking for a system that can grow, this version of the D510 Convertible has three open PCI slots and two open drive bays: one for another internal hard drive, the other for a removable media device, such as an additional optical drive. Adding or removing drives from the bays is especially simple: Just unhinge a bright green latch. In a nice design twist, unhinging the latch also allows the 40GB hard drive to rotate 90 degrees for easy serviceability.
Advantages: price , good processor and upgrade-able Disadvantages: probably will have to buy new hard drive and dvd drive in the long run
I bought this pc as it is quite quite cheap. eventhough it does lack some features when bought, it is easily upgrade-able. This pc isn't just good for internet, word processing etc it is also good for games if fitted with a graphics card. this is what i do with it because i dont want to pay for an expensive gaming pc. This pc is just a basic pc which i would recommentt to anyone who wants to try upgrading a pc or someone who would rather buy a cheaper ... ...accommidate their own needs. there is a few bad points though, i would advise buying a new dvd drive and hard drive as they aren't the most reliable ones you can have. the dvd drive on mine malfunctions and i have also heard of this on other machines to. the hard drive can take a while to read. other than this it is a great, cheap pc and with a small purchase of some parts it can be made into a great entertainment pc. ...

Advantages: Small Form Factor but still space inside Disadvantages: Cabling can be tight
We have 800 of these and so far they have been great. Reliability wise we have only had a few problems over the last 2 years where a couple of power supplies have popped.
Do not be scared of the small form factor - these boxes can still hold extra stuff. We had quite tight requirements for the boxes we needed. Basically, we wanted to add an IDE Raid card, an extra hard disk, and 1GB or RAM. All of this was possible inside this tiny box. The floppy can be removed as not many people use them these days, and in its place you can install another hard disk. The case does have the opening for the floppy on the front, but it doesn't look bad.
As I mentioned in the title, the box can be tight for cabling, but you'd expect that for the size.
The only annoyance with the box is the mechanism for lifting the drives. Removing the case ...
Advantages: Sleek Look, Very Good Spec, Easy to store, Disadvantages: Not a games machine
In Late July 2003 I got a new job at an IT reseller so understandably a home computer was now essential. As with any big purchase I shopped around and looked at the competition e.g. Dell, Tiny etc. As my parents had brought a Packard Bell seven years previously I gave PC World a wide berth knowing they were overpriced and the machines were sub standard.
Eventually one of my colleagues recommended a company that supplied many offices (www.microwarehouse.co.uk) and as luck would have it they had a sale at the time.
After browsing their stock list I eventually opted for a desktop CompaqEVOD510 with a Pentium 4 Processor, the cost of the base unit was scarcely believable at just £389. I also brought a 17 Inch monitor and an internal modem. The total cost was a bargain at just £608 Inc VAT.
The basic specifications of the machine ...

Advantages: small form factor, cheap, fast, reliable, good support Disadvantages: lack of space to upgrade
When Compaq was bought out by HP, there was some concern as to the loss of the Compaq brand and a reduction in quality of desktop and server machines.
I am pleased to say that this has not happened. The CompaqEvoD510 is a worthy machine and packs a lot of power into a small space.
The basic specs of the machine are:
2.4GHz Pentium 4, 256MB, 40GB, CD-ROM, onboard sound, AGP Video, LAN, Modem, black case, TFT monitor
Available from £600+vat (even PC World are keeping prices on this quite low) the machine definitely has a lot of features for the price. Although not designed as a gaming machine, the PC will perform (though you may want to change the graphics card for the more demanding games).
The machine comes with a return to base warranty and this is a good all round solution for most people. If you want to upgrade ...
