Compaq D510 - solid corporate PC
Review of Compaq Evo D510 by  judson

Advantages: Flexible, Robust, Easy to service
Disadvantages: No USB ports on front

...As with many Compaq models you have the option of setting up your PC as a tower or dektop, and this Evo is one. In addition, you are also able to change the position of the CD/DVD & Floppy drives as required. So whether the case is standing on edge or lying on its side, the CD-ROM and DVD drives have their typical horizontal placement. HP also includes an extensive array of sophisticated manageability tools for system administrators, the Intelligent Manageability software suite encompasses tools for such remote management activities as system diagnostics via a Web browser, system wake-up, and the ability to disable USB and serial ports and to lock down the BIOS to secure boot-up sequences. The keyboard has programmable hot-keys for accessing the Internet. The base configuration of the D510 has integrated graphics. And for businesses... Read review

Compact Compaq
Review of Compaq Evo D510 e-PC by  pjwalker

Advantages: Reliable, quiet and space-efficient.
Disadvantages: Not much room for expansion.

...When I got my D510 a few months ago, more or less everybody in the office had a comment to make. Mostly along the lines of "That's cool isn't it?" or "How come you get all the best stuff?". To answer the second question, that's because I work hardest of course - but that's not important right now. What is important is that the enormous, noisy off-white monolith which used to dominate both my desk and my field of vision has been replaced with a tidy little piece of desktop art which, as well as looking good, has caused me the least trouble of any of the many PC's I've worked with. I'm a programmer and spend all of every working day with my computer, so without the right tool the job doesn't get done. This model isn't the most poweful in terms of processor speed or memory, but XP seems to love it and they get along famously. Here... Read review

Compaq Evo D510
Review of Compaq Evo D510 by  mdallen

Advantages: Small Form Factor but still space inside
Disadvantages: Cabling can be tight

...We have 800 of these and so far they have been great. Reliability wise we have only had a few problems over the last 2 years where a couple of power supplies have popped. Do not be scared of the small form factor - these boxes can still hold extra stuff. We had quite tight requirements for the boxes we needed. Basically, we wanted to add an IDE Raid card, an extra hard disk, and 1GB or RAM. All of this was possible inside this tiny box. The floppy can be removed as not many people use them these days, and in its place you can install another hard disk. The case does have the opening for the floppy on the front, but it doesn't look bad. As I mentioned in the title, the box can be tight for cabling, but you'd expect that for the size. The only annoyance with the box is the mechanism for lifting the drives. Removing the case... Read review
