...My Omnibook 3000 has the following quickspecs: Pentium 200 MMX, 512 k. 80 MB EDO RAM. 3,2 GB HDD. 13,3'' TFT. Ports: ECP, Parallel, D-SUB, IrDA, PS/2, USB, 32-BIT Cardbus. Audio (Crystal): line ind, microphone, speaker out. The PC has everything that you'll find in a PII-system - exept a PII processor. In other words it has been state-of-the-art, when the PC was launched. That means that today the only new thing you might want to have is a firewire-port, and who needs that, after all? The PC itself is as far as sturdiness is conserned probably the best HP ever made - The only thing I can compare it to is a IBM PC, which everyone knows is the highest quality. Advantages: Good Solid reliable computer
Disadvantages: Fiddly to upgrade the memory or hard drive.

...I run a charity that gives computers to disabled peole. Mostly, I have had Compaq computers donated to me for this project and I can honestly say that they are about 99% reliable. Of the over 300+ computers donated so far,270+ have been Deskpro EN series, and I have only had 3 callbacks for problems on the units.Normally a plug I hadn't pushed in properly. All the other have proved to be no problem at all. I myself use a Deskpro EN at home, and it has worked flawlessly for over 1.5 years, and its on 24 hours a day. It is also the server for a local LAN in my house, and is the master for Internet connection sharing. Faultless in operation, I would not hesitate to recommend this marque to anybody looking for a reliable unit. Any business looking for long term reliability, and a good strong workhorse should definately consider... Read review

Advantages: cheap to buy used, robust
Disadvantages: Heavy, slow, small hard drive

...The compaq Armada 1530D laptops have been out about 5 or 6 years now, first entering the market back in 1998, so its worth considering this throughout my review; this laptop is nothing compared with todays machines. I bought the laptop used about one year ago, I needed a simple machine for word processing at home, and decided it would be nice to socialise whil working (now I can sit in front of the telly with the family while I do my work) At £200 it was a bargain, the truth is they are even cheaper on ebay now, I've seen them go as little as £100. But of course, your not going to get an amazing machine for under £200. These laptops really are basic and have minimum specs.
