Advantages: Erm...... Disadvantages: Unreliable, unrelaible and unreliable.
...It seems to me that the Compaq range of computers is anything but reliable. Bearing in mind how prelavent they are in the work place however, it seems as though they are doing something right. Give them their due, their marketing department are wizards. A shame the same can't be said of the people who design and build them.
They do seem to be a touch dependant upon the diagnostic tool that compaq build into them. However, I wonder how much of a detrimental effect this kind of architecture is having on the relibalility of the hardware.
Basically, I would expect a P.C. to be comatible with virtually anything, with a tweak or two here and there in the hands of people who are trained to do the tweaking. However, the more I see, it seems as though a whole team of technicians is required to keep the hardware operative as it chashes with all...

Advantages: Value for money Disadvantages: No network port
...It now seems harder and harder to find that printer that is value for money with price of the unit cost of the toner if it needs a separate fuser element to the plain old cost per page or (pp). HP are well known for making good quality printers and for good reason as they are normally have the reliability, economy and quality with its range of office laser printers.
The new LaserJet 1320 comes in a smart white and grey case. At 10.5Kg, its not going to be blown of the desk with a gust, the high build-quality is of a standard you would expect from HP. The printer pushes out pages at a fast speed, It's quoted rate is 22 pages per minute, Print quality is crisp and black.
The paper tray holds around 200 sheets of A4 paper at a time.
Cartridges cost about £50, so the pp price costs in the about 2p. However, as HP points out, its...

...I have been very pleased with my Compaq Prosignia. It's about 18 months old now and after adding more memory and a Modem I find it very useful for my needs. Ok its not the fastest of machines I nearly have time to make a cup of tea while the machine boots up but its been reliable and that to me is more important. I bought it after coming across compaq machines through work, i thought that if it was suitable for office use then it would be fine for home. This has proven to be the case, however I think next time I will buy just the components and make up my own machine which I am sure will be cheaper in the long run. I will pass this one down to my teenage daughter who finds it very useful for her school work. As for the manufacturer's support I am pleased to announce I have never had the need to call upon them, surely this alone speaks...

My husband has been using the HP Laserjet P1005 at work for the past few months. His [much more expensive] laserjet broke down and he was quite put out to receive this in return!

Now before I start I should make it clear I'm reviewing this as an end user and as a bloke who has one sitting on a shelf right outside my office door, rather than as a tech who has to look after the thing... and from my side of the fence it seems to be... more
