    I bought my first computer about six months ago from PC World. At £1200 it wasn't ever going to rival Deep Thought (see Hitch-hikers guide), but I thought it was still a reasonable amount to spend, so cheekily I asked them to throw in a few extras. I eventually got an Epson C62 and a flat bed scanner added to the package for just £10 more. When I eventually arrived at the check-out, it turned out that the computer already came with a printer (C42+), so my dad ended up with a new scanner and the C62 for free.     I bought this laptop about 2 years ago now so it is pretty outdated by the speed at which the industry is moving. I got is cheap in a PC world January sale for £299 and as far as I am concerned it has done everything that I have asked it to within reason. I originally bought it for school work and in that respect it has had no problems, I also like to play games and only now are games coming into the market which it can't play mainly because it only comes with 256Mb RAM but this can easily be upgraded to 512MB which should be enough for use in almost anything you would need to do on a laptop ... more

    In 2+ years of use I have found my 2500 to be a very good desktop substitute. BUT once the fans kick in (fairly often) the battery life greatly shortens to less than 50-60 minutes. This unit kicks out a lot of heat so the three fans operate almost constantly in my experience.The fans are also noisy -- I have had a librarian once come to me with request to quiet my computer! On the plus side :-) one can warm one's hands in a super airconditioned, cold room. I have done so several times.     I brought the compaq presario 2500 one year ago. I found the compaq presario 2500 to be a great computer. I have used it every day for a few hours, and today it is as good as new. It is easy to use, and it is fast. It is also very easy to install new software onto. It also looks good and is designed well. The compaq presario 2500 is very light and it is easy to transport from place to place. With all my travelling in the pass year the computer has been very durable. The battery is not as good as it was a year ago, I used to get 3 hours battery life with heavy use, now I am luck to get one hour ... more
