In 2+ years of use I have found my 2500 to be a very good desktop substitute. BUT once the fans kick in (fairly often) the battery life greatly shortens to less than 50-60 minutes. This unit kicks out a lot of heat so the three fans operate almost constantly in my experience.The fans are also noisy -- I have had a librarian once come to me with request to quiet my computer! On the plus side :-) one can warm one's hands in a super airconditioned, cold room. I have done so several times. In traveling with my Presario 2500 I have to carry several extra batteries with me and have gotten to know where electrical outlets are located in many airports. Because of this issue I cannot recommend this model.
