I´ve been so busy travelling that I have not been able to post for quite some time (more than 4 years to be precise). Presently in Paraguay, South America.
I purchased it six years ago for a price of PDS600.00.
Mine is totally black in colour including the monitor and keyboard and equipped with a Cyrix 166 Processor, 16 MB RAM and 1.2 GB Hard Drive.
About a year ago I increased the RAM to 32 MB and the Hard Drive to 2 GB.
Many a time I thought of changing this machine for a new one with more specicifications and higher performance levels. However one of my friends is a computer technician and he advised me then that these older models are by far better than the ones out today. Not in specs but in durability. They don't make them now like they used to make them. All makers including Compaq are trying to cut corners with the stiff competition nowadays. Parts are being made more and more in China, Malaysia and other third world countries just to cut costs.
You might get a nice fancy, high tech computer today but the durability factor is totally missing.
My present machine has served me well over the last six years and when I was assigned to Ghana for one year I took it with me. Whilst in Ghana it must have gone through a least a hundred power cuts and thousands of fluctuations and the only part that ever got damaged was my external modem due to an electricity surge. So I say with total conviction that this machine has "stood the test".
I would strongly recommend this model to anyone who can get hold of one and then you can make the improvements to the memory and hard drive to your own requirements.
