Advantages: good overclocker Disadvantages: not as good as duron
...The Celeron has been around for a while now and, due to the fact that it is a cut-down version of the Pentium 3 that runs at a slower bus speed (66MHz for the Celeron compared to 100MHz for the P3), with a little TLC and a lot of cooling, it can often be made to run at speeds far greater than the advertised values. In this respect, it is not as good as AMD's Duron processor (see my review of that for details), but for owners of BX boards, this can be a cheap upgrade (see your motherboard manufacturer's website for details of whether it will run Celerons), as all that is required is the CPU and a *decent* heatsink & fan, rather than a new processor and motherboard.
For example, one of my machines currently has a celeron 600 (this runs a multiplier of 9 at the bus speed of 66MHz) running at 900 MHz (9 * 100MHz). This is a huge...

Advantages: Cheap, powerful, fast, easily overclockable Disadvantages: Not as fast as the Athlon, no manual with my processor
...shot up from 35 to 152. This was also due to the inclusion of a 100MHz bus as required for the faster processor. Running any game on the new system was a pleasure, with much smoother graphics and improved performance all round. The system tolerates overclocking very well and can be pushed further than I would expect from most processors (Make sure you have adequate cooling). The board helped no end with the ability for 124MHz bus speeds.
Although this processor is no longer a real competitor when it comes to top-end speed, I still think it would be ideal for revitalising an older system or as a 'budget' system which is still capable of great performance on almost every game. One problem I found was the lack of a manual with the processor, but that was because I bought it from a specialist wholesaler for ultra budget, and I think most...

Advantages: Temperature sensors, free software Disadvantages: None
...I have a chaintech motherboard in my P3 system and it hs lots of good points to it: -
Supports Intel Pentium II and Pentium III processors up to 733MHz
Celeron 466MHz
System clock 66/100/133MHz
Slot 1 with convenient retention mechanism
High efficiency switching power module
There are temperature sensors on the board to keep you updated all the time about temps and fan speeds. It will take up to 768 MB of ram at speeds of 66/100/133MHz ram depending on the processors bus speed. It comes with a cd full of drivers and some free software like antivirus which is very helpfull....
