Alpha 21264C 1 GHz processor

Advantages: cheap to buy
Disadvantages: not upto the mark

...My Celeron D processor runs very well . yhou it was lsloe games like nfs undergrd 1,2 ,mostwanted ,age of empires 3 ,fifa 2007 ,gta san andreas , total overdose , warhammer 40000 dawn of war drak crusade & halo combat evolved worked smoothly without getting hanged ---------XXXX XXXXXXXX XXXXXXXXXXXXXX XXXXXXXXXXx XXXXXXXXXXXXX I had even overclocked it fro 2.53 to 3.01 ghz and worked very well i had nce overclocked it to 3.48 ghz it worked good but after some time of game play it would suddenly get turned off , later i came to know that the reason of going off is that it was overheated . so from the i am usin it at 3.01 ghz and it wrks very well . its not bad to have a processor like this at a cheap price .... Advantages: speed ( Atlon is still the best chip )
Disadvantages: lasts seconds without a heat sink

...I recently received a 1 Ghz Athlon system and without realising that the heat sink had fallen of the processor started the system up , the processor failed virtually immediately. No problem i hear you cry just make sure you have a heat sink always on the processor. However what if in moving your system it falls of without you realising it, in the past processors used to be able to gon on for weeks even months without failing not so the Athlon one quick zap of power and it dies. I have now replaced the procesor and have replaced the heat sink but this makes me very nervous about future reliability when a processor can so easily be disabled in such a quick time.... Advantages: Good for speed freaks
Disadvantages: Not needed for much

...Well These processors are just getting redicolous, Were onto Pentium 4 1.5ghz! not even the highest spec games need that. Why would anyone even want a processor this fast? what software these days could make a use for it unless being a virus. The highest processor ive seen needed for a Game, probaly the most demanding piece of software on pc is 650Mhz and the only program i know of that needs a recommended value of 1.3ghz is that of a cancer institue which uses the processor to calculate large formulas etc. Trust me people 1.5ghz really isn't needed and seeming as intel have a record for slow Bus speeds i really wouldn't bother. If you really think you need 1.5Ghz get a Athlon they usually have 2meg Caches and very high bus speeds... Read review
