Advantages: fast, simple, easy, good price Disadvantages: none so far
...an internal drive, (you can purchase internalSCSI drives), meaning if you buy a good CD-Writer a full disk may only take 5 minutes for the whole thing! But as usual you don’t get anything for nothing. A USB drive on average is about £200, and a SCSI £300 - £400. And also note that a SCSI drive requires another card for your PC, meaning you STILL have to open it up.
So I went for USB, my Hp CD Writer + 8930e, cost £190 of my savings, not a fortune compared to the standard internal drives. The installation was so easy, even a novice could understand it, the manual told you precisely what you have to do. Unpack the drive, plug in the power cable, connect to your PC, and switch it on. And then a message in Win98 is displayed, asking for your supplied installation disks. That is what really made this purchase a result for me.

Good Buy Review ofHP CD-Writer Plus 8210eby

Advantages: USB compatable Disadvantages: Slower than internal CD recorders
...I purchased this external USB CD Re-Writer because I had no free bays in my machine. I have found the HP drive to be a doddle to install, and absolute simplicity to use. Although dearer than an internal drive (£190), I say its well worth the money.
HP state that they do not support 80 minute CD's. I have used 80 Min CD's in this machine and it records without a problem.
It come with Easy Cd creator and Direct CD which are both easy to use. You insert a blank CD into the drive and a menu automatically pops up to guide you through the recording stage. Or you can access the recording software from the start menu and bypass the wizard.
Buy it!...

Advantages: Cheap, easy to use. Disadvantages: Install of Hardware.
...When I first started to use the 8200 I was not sure about it as it would not have been my first choice. I say this as this CD-Writer is not the fastest on the market or in the HP Range. However it is used at work so I can't complain.
Having used the CD-Writer I must say I am quite impressed with it. Although the speed is not what I would like, it is only 4x write and re-write, it is a very reliable peice of kit. Other CD-Writers that I have used have chewed up CD's and given errors when writing, so making the CD useless.
The HP 8200 as with other HP CD-Writers comes in two forms, an internal (You can tell by having an i after the number, e.g. 8200i) and an external (Similar to internal but e on the end of a number, e.g. 8200e). With this you get packages the normal HP Software, Adaptec Direct CD and Easy CD Creator, both of which...
