Manufacturer's product description
The internal CD-ReWriter from Compaq uses an EIDE/ATAPI interface for easy installation. It's compatible with any desktop running a Windows 95 or Windows NT 4.0 operating system. You'll create your own audio and data CDs as easily as copying files to a floppy disc. The 7200I comes with a more complete software package than its predecessor, featuring Adaptec's Direct CD software for drag-and-drop copying functionality. You can store up to 650MB on a disc or 74 minutes of music. With each disc's 650MB capacity, you can store just about any file or application, including large multimedia files, still and video images, or huge databases. It writes to both CD-R and CD-RW media. Whether for storing data at home or the office, CDs are among the most cost efficient and reliable methods available. At less than five cents per megabyte, you can store data that's not susceptible to data-loss from magnetic fields or sudden drops. CD media has an estimated shelf life of 50 years or more, and you can rewrite on a CD-RW disc up to 1000 times.
