Whether you work in the field of philosophy or are simply a hobbyist, I could hardly recommend this book more. Included within it's lovely bindings are all of Plato's known works along with those presumed to be his. Structured in a way deemed, by scholars, to represent (to the best of their understanding) the actual chronological order in which they were written by the great master himself.

Before finding this particular tome I had searched high and low for one that contained the complete works of Plato. If you have tried the same you will have found that there are a number of "The Best of..." which contain all of the well known essays (great, if you are new to Plato) such as 'Crito' and 'Protagoras' but this seems to be the only one in print which provides every one of his known works. Indeed, within the inside cover it is stated that many of the translations were commissioned especially for this volume.

Plato - Complete Works has been impeccably edited by John M. Cooper and D.S. Hutchinson who both provide useful contributions in the form of an interesting introductory essay at the beginning of the book and short introductions before each translation.

I would like to reiterate, you do not have to be highly educated in the field of philosophy to enjoy this book. Whilst the reading can be quite tough the annotations provided make it clear and easy to understand and I believe that any reader would appreciate the value of his wisdoms.

Finally, I know a lot of people might begrudge paying what seems to be a lot of money for a book but this is a real investment and worth every penny.
