Advantages: Clear, sharp display. Good response time. Nice, modern design. Value for money. Disadvantages: A 19in version would be nice.
...I bought this monitor from Tesco about a year back . I had just completed my home built computer and wanted to compliment it with a 17in nice screen, but on a student budget. The 170C6 fitted the bill perfectly at only £119.99 and i am still using it with no problems to date- previewing this review on it now, in fact.

Philips are a long established household brand, manufacturing everything from food processors to mp3 players. Their good mix of well priced goods and quality manufacturing are what appealed to me about this monitor.

Advantages: efficient customer assistance by philips Disadvantages: they are all faulty (read my story)
.... It wasn't. I called the assistance again, I was sure they would have thought I was a fraud calling them again for the same exact problem, on the contrary they were very kind and scheduled another swap. This time they gave me another, newer, model (the 170C6). My guess is that all those of the series 170C5 had a faulty power supply. If you see this monitor in offer anywhere AVOID IT LIKE HELL! And insted search for newer versions such as the 170C6 (which I reviewed too) that is the heck of a great computer monitor and has a very professional design, while this 170C5BS looks rather cheap....
