The MEng Software engineering course within the Department of Electronics and Computer Science consists of a four year course. The first two years run in common with the plain BSc Computer Science degree and start as if you knew nothing about computers at all. The overall course is heavily software biased with little Hardware teaching done. The hardware side being covered by the departments MEng and BEnd Computer Engineering degrees.
The current course covers all major langugaes and methodologies including Java, C, C++, UML, XML, Perl, Matlab etc.I have found the course to be very enjoyable and the department is one of the best in the country if not the best.
The facilities within the department are extensive with a large computing lab deddicated to the department.The main downside to this this degree is the Very High workload in the last two years were you can end up spending a lot of time working away at coursework assignments
