...Salford University wasn't my first choice of Uni. Having lived near manchester anyway, I was looking for somewhere else, to be honest. But, I am glad that I stayed!
I did the BSc in Information techonology, and to be honest, I couldn't have picked a better degree. Rather than go down the software engineering / computer science route, I opted for a degree that was more inclined to theory and management studies. I think this certainly set me up well for my future career.
There was a lot of people management skills as well involved, and where fellow graduates fear giving presentations where I work, I have no problem in getting and and speaking to however many people I need to!
Yes, the Uni is in a dodgy part of the world, but I enjoyed my time there, and if I could go back in time, I'd do it all again!
Lastly, I believe...

Advantages: Learn lots, in two useful disciplines, good facilities, some great lecturers Disadvantages: Some not so great lecturers, not much help with placements, VIVA assessment and moved exams!

» Computer Science. This part of the course gives you a good grounding in the theories of computing, as well as getting you going as far as learning programming languages goes. While there's a little hardware theory, there's not much, so if you're a hardware kind of guy/gal, this isn't the course for you.
» Software Engineering. This is the part of the course where you learn how the industry writes programs – right from the first design stages, right through to the maintenance stages at the end. Sure, it can get a little tedious at times, but you'll soon find out how useful it'll be!
The course is changing all the time to make it more dynamic and to incorporate and allow for changes and developments within the computing world. I...

Advantages: great career prospects Disadvantages: not entirely about fashion.
...on to do the BSc.
We do 10 hours a week, starting with Fashion Buying on Monday mornings for 3 hours. This is about the business of fashion, and the processes of fashion buying.
Next we have 4 hours of marketing and business management on tuesday afternoons. These include, quality, production, costing, and accounting. This is quite difficult, but you definitly have an advantage if you have studied business studies previously, if not you are very likely to find it quite difficult.
We have the day off on wednesdays, then we have 2 hours of Fashion Theory on Thursdays- this is generally about the history of fashion.
On Fridays, we have an hour of CAD- computer aided design, this section of the course is great fun and everyone enjoys it. We design things on the computer using design software. You do have a big advantage if you have...
