Geological Sciences at UOP - Geology Rocks!
Advantages: broad range of topics covered, great teaching and support Disadvantages: some people see geology as an easy option....its not, but it is great

All these courses have there advantages and disadvantages, (and for the first year Geol, Applied geol, and Mgeol are identical) but for someone who knows they want to do Geology, but are not sure what area they want to specialize in I would recommend the Bsc Geological Sciences.

Coastal too - UPDATED
Advantages: Friendly atmosphere, high standards of teaching Disadvantages: distance from main campus can make access to library etc. difficult
...the chance to do a Civil (and Coastal) Engineering degree, I was pretty stoked. The reqired entry level involved me getting 14 points at A-level (which isn't very high when you onsider the high quality of the course), to get on to the full degree course, and only 4 points for entry on to the HND. However, I think that this is different for each person, as it depends on your predicted A-level results. Living in Cornwall for nearly all of my life, ... ...fact, I strongly believe that Civil Engineering is one of the hardest things that you could possibly do. It's very maths an physics based. And being a degree course, its of a much much higher standard than A-level. It can be really tough, and anyone who takes this course, I'd strongly recommend working very hard right from the start. If there is something that you don't quite understand at the beginning, your going to get a little bit lost, and falling ...

Sperms a thing of the past
Advantages: keeps food fresh and allows for product differentiation Disadvantages: Killing our planet slowly but surely!
...the issue of packaging.
Packaging is a problem that plagues us all. I won't mention the brand name but a well-known chocolate biscuit brand (having the same name as a flight-less sea bird - I'm sure you know which one!) used to (I stopped buying because of this fact so I am unsure if it still does!) produce a double pack. It placed two single packets of biscuits individually wrapped inside an outer wrapping. What a waste! Why not strap two individual ... ...outer-wrapping? I don't think the packaging was even recyclable either! So a double thumbs down for this company!
Some of you might be thinking "so what" its just some plastic wrapping. Well, if you multiply that by the millions of sheets unnecessarily wasted in the manufacturing process this becomes more of an issue! There links with some plastics (no longer referring to any brand now for fear of legal action!) that are linked with the lowering ...

Biology at Plymouth
Advantages: Interesting Course Disadvantages: none
I am currently nearing completion of my second year on this course and have found it both stimulating and rewarding from day one. The range of modules studied adds a great deal of variety to the course. In year 1 you study modules based a wide range of topics including Biochemistry, Microbiology, Genetics, Ecology and loads more. You will also study statistics and general skills related to higher education such as writing essays and the use of IT. ... ...1 hour per week) and practical sessions (about 3 x 2 hours per week). In addition to this you will have regular tutorials in groups of about 5 students and some IT and statistics workshops.
I found the workload quite manageable. It isn't all that easy, but provided you manage your time pretty well, you should be able to get all your uni work done and still have plently of time to try out the nightlife in Plymouth or visit your mates in other unis.
