I got this card expecting it to be good, but not great. I was wrong. There is no game available that i cannot play on maximum. I don't know why people ... ...does the job perfectley. The only flaw with the entire graphics card specs wise, is the fact it only has pixel shader 2.0 although this isn't a problem unless you want HDR in your games. As mentioned in the 'disadvantages' section, the fan is rather pitiful looking. I suppose it does the job and keeps the card at around 60 degrees when playing games and 35 degrees when idle. For those wanting a silent gaming pc, don't choose this card. When the fan ... more

I got this card expecting it to be good, but not great. I was wrong. There is no game available that i cannot play on maximum. I don't know why people bother going for £300 graphics cards when my £100 X800GTO does the job perfectley. When the fan hits maximum speed it sounds like your PC is about to take off. The 256MB dedicated GDDR3 memory is plenty for any game, realistically it is overkill for most games. Connectivity on the card is very good too, one VGA slot, one DVI slot and a TV VIVO (video in/video out) slot. It comes with all the cables needed to connect it to your TV also.
Installing it was a breeze, simply plug the card into the PCI-E slot then boot up your pc, put in the cd. It installs catalyst and the drivers. Done.
Here are a few examples of my framerates in games, all tests are run at 1280x1024 - Oblivion on maximum - 30-60 FPS Doom 3 on ultra - 60FPS Half life 2 - 200FPS FEAR - 40-70FPS
The user guide is a little vague, and i got the AGP guide for some reason that goes on about connecting the power supply to the card which i assume is an AGP thing. The card itself came very well packaged, a fairly big box filled with foam and an anti static bag.
Just a word of warning, if you are going to have this graphics card, remember you need a MINIMUM 350W PSU.
Overall i believe this is a briliant card for gamers and regular users alike because of its tiny price tag, plus it can be crossfired! For those that don't know, crossfire is an ATI technology where 2 graphics cards are plugged in ( a master and a slave ) and they work simultaneously to produce even more power. For this you would need a minimum 500W PSU.
Advantages: Speed, 2 monitors, Vivo, PCI-e, Best bang for buck Disadvantages: Runs hot, needs extra connector, loud when fan is on 100%, no SM3.0
I was in your position a while back, I had a relatively small budget to buy a graphics card. The I came across this card, very cheap but goes like hell. Like the price of a small asian car but with the power of a Ford GT! With 256MB it has enough memory to handle the newer operating systems. Along with 1GB or more memory this card will chew up and spit out any game you throw at it. Two monitors mean you can have one in theater mode so you can watch ... ...other!!
I have even had two of these cards, one came with the older R423 core and the samsung 2.0ns memory chips which are rated at 1GHZ, the newer one came with even more cooling and the R430 core, even the memory now has a big heatsink. The card comes with an additional connector (6-pin PCI-e) to power the card. However I found if you try to play games stright off it will overheat. Unless you download a third party application to use with it (such ...

Advantages: Great value for money, awesome overclocking potential, extra power for the card via a connector Disadvantages: A bad fan at first
This card is an excellent buy, and perfect value for money. For under £100 you can get a card that can reach speed of an X850 XT when overclocked - I have reached 580Mhz core speed and 560Mhz memory speed, from the default 400Mhz core 490Mhz memory, and it still runs very well. Some of the older versions of this card can also have their pipelines unlocked to make them even more powerful, but it is unlikely to find one of these now. The packaging ... ...looks good enough inside a computer. It has a VGA and DVI output, and the vivo feature works very well with earlier ATI drivers, but any higher than 6.2 can cause problems with it. The only other problem I had, though this may be particular to my motherboard as it is a micro-ATX motherboard, is that this graphics card obscured one of my pci slots and did not allow me to use it. This is an excellent card and will still play well any game out there ...
