Excellent, delicious and cheap Pinot Noir
Advantages Tastes more expensive than it is, delicious red berry flavours, widely available
Disadvantages Hard to think of !
If you enjoy a juicy, medium bodied red wine with vibrant and mouth watering red berry (strawberry/raspberry) and cherry flavours then a Pinot Noir can fit the bill. However Pinot Noir wines are generally quite expensive and good, affordable examples suitable for everyday drinking are thin on the ground. Despite this a great example exists in the form of Cono Sur Pinot Noir from Chile which is superb value for money. I think Chile produces some easy drinking, pleasing red wines in the lower price brackets and this is no exception. This wine normally retails at the £5-6 price range at a number of major supermarkets (Tesco, Sainsburys, Somerfield and Waitrose included) and is often discounted to the £4-5 area. It makes for exceptionally delicious drinking on its own with delicious red berry flavours with a hint of smoke in a very, juicy lively body with very soft tannins. The latter feature means the wine will not leave you with a harsh, mouth drying feeling after swallowing thus further enhancing drinkability and makes it possible to serve it lightly chilled (nice on a warm day, if anything exists in the summer of 2007 !). It is not overly complex in flavour but who really cares in its price range.
This wine as well as being a pleasing stand alone glugger can also partner a pleasant lunch or dinner centred around light meats, salmon or a mild curry. Overall a top drink for lovers of great value red wine and very hard to fault given its price!

Welcome to Ciao. I think this has the makings of a pretty good first review, but it could do with a bit more structure and better layout. There is an "edit review" button at the top of the page to help you do this, if you wanted. Duncan
