...A vent kit was supplied to vent to atmosphere, I am running mine on recirc with the carbon filters fitted, it takes two filters (not supplied) one either side of the motor, I managed to find these for a very reasonable price at £10 the pair on the internet. Mine came with an offer of a free two year guarantee in the box as long as I registered it within a set amount of time. I have no problem in recommending this hood to any prospective buyer. ... Disadvantages: Very very noisy and doesn't extract steam

...it's stainless steel!) Rang Baumatic and they told me that their hoods are only made to extract odours, not steam. Checked the hand book, yep, that's exactly what it says. Total waste of money, as I expected any cooker hood designed to go over a hob would extract steam from pans, otherwise what's the point? ... Read review

I decided to buy a Baumatic hood to match my hob. I had originally decided on just a plain stainless steel one as anything else seemed too expensive. Then I found one for sale for £298 and decided I would have to have it! Lookswise it cant really be beat, the 'chimney' part is softly curved at the edges with the Baumatic name indented into it. the glass that curves over the hob makes the extractor seem less obtrusive than the fully stainless steel ...
...a let down! I telephoned Baumatic immediately and an engineer came two days after which I thought was very good. He seemed genuinely surprised that it had broken down as they are extremely reliable. The fault turned out to be a faulty switch inside which coincidently was the same probelm he had with his last customer so he put it down to a faulty batch of switches.
