Great looking cooker and really easy to use
Review of Hotpoint EW74 by
alicat07
Advantages: slow cook feature, half grill option, stay clean liners and interior light in oven
Disadvantages: Grill can be a bit slow to warm up
The cremic top has four hobs and visual lights to indicate which hobs are in use and stay lit until the hobs are cool enough to touch. One hob has Solarglo Dual zone which allows it to be used as a full burner or just the inner burner for smaller pans. It has LED display, clock, electronic timer and slow cook feature.
The grill has an option to use the full grill or half grill. This is also a conventional oven.
The main oven is fan assisted, has ...

Hotpoint EW84
Review of Hotpoint EW84 by

Advantages: easy to clean, having 2 ovens, and intelligent systems for certain types of cooking
Disadvantages: top oven takes longer to cook than anticipated
This was my first experience with an electric cooker and to be honest it took a little while to get used to it. The hob elements do take longer than expected to heat up but when they do, they work perfectly and the safety mechanism kicks in to prevent the glass from getting too hot when left on and not in use. It is also very easy to clean.
Having 2 ovens is ideal, especially when cooking large quantities of food which need different temperatures. ... ...to cook - unsure if this is if the temperature control is not quite hot enough. I have only used the cake and meat 'intelligent options and found the temperatures to be spot on. The others I have not used and feel unlikely to do so, these are for poultry and fish. Over all it is a smart looking cooker, and after adjusting to electric after gas for many years It has proved to be very good value for money. I would recommend this product. ...

Hotpoint 170EW Electric cooker.
Review of Hotpoint HW170EW by
Barie
Advantages: Efficient cooking in oven and on hobs. Easy to clean.
Disadvantages: Waist level knobs difficult to see and read ( for a tall person.)
I have just bought the ALL electric version of this ( assume there must be two versions based on a rreview I read here.).
Its fantastic. I have no issues with it at all. The fan oven heated up and cooked beautifully. The hob rings were quick and efficiient. I managed to spill on one of the hobs ( too fast, I wasnt quick enough when it came to the boil) but it cleaned off easily and as good as new.
My main gripe would be that the knobs are all along ... ...to bend to see what is what there. I am sure with time I will be familiar with this but right now its a drawback.
I liked the old Creda stand alone with a back up ( had a Creda cavelier vefore this) . I also miss the aultomatic timer I had on my old cooker. This is a " slot in " type so has no back and I suppose is very modern. Not my taste but apparently they have stopped making my taste.
But overall a good cooker for the money I paid for it. ...

GW74, unreliable, breaks down after about 2 months
Review of Hotpoint GW74 by
pehorts
Advantages: easy to set up and use, clear step by step manual
Disadvantages: only lasts about 2 to 3 months before breaking down
...phoned the service engineers at hotpoint who did come out fairly quickly (within a week) who diagnosed the problem to be the solenoid, having repaired the solenoid he discovered the cooker was still not working so we managed to get a replacement cooker of the same model.
After about 2 months the replacement was going through the same sequence of breakdown events, first the spark generator then the solenoid and now the elecronic switch attached to ...

Hotpoint BD32
Review of Hotpoint BD32 by
hon3ybee
Advantages: Has a great fan assisted oven (no more Aunt Bessies!!)
Disadvantages: May take a little timegetting used to the controls.
The sales assistant wasn't really impressed that we didn't take out and extended warranty. But as it comes with a free 5 year warranty, I thought that I would wait until nearer the time. In order to have the free 5 year warranty you have to fill in the paperwork and send back to Hotpoint. It as always a good idea to keep your receipt and a photocopy of any details sent. I chose the black model which cleans up really well. The main oven cooks almost ... ...test. I have not experienced any odours from the oven, which you usually get upon the first few times that you use a new oven. The BD32 has an AA energy rating and a programmable timer. It may take a little time to get used to the controls. ...
