Cooking Mama 2: Dinner with Friends (Nintendo DS)

Cooking Mama is a game where you cook onscreen,with your stylus being the ultimate utensil. Use it to slice,mash,mix,cut and more!
In this second addition to the cooking mama series you have the ability to do alot more than in the first game.There are different cooking modes to chose from as well as cooking contests where you can challenge your friends.You can also change the design of mama's outfit,accessories,utensils and the kitchen.I have noted the different modes and features in detail below:

Cook with mama

To start there is 12 recipes to choose from,but you can unlock 68 more as you complete the dishes.When you finish cooking a meal,Mama will judge your effort and give you a gold,silver or bronze medal with points,depicting how you performed on that particular dish.Practice mode is also available to perfect cooking a dish before being scored.

Let's Cook!

You start this mode with 2 characters to choose to cook for.They will judge your cooking and you will earn bonuses.There is also a new feature which is the diary,where you can save your creations and later design the food with googly eyes and things like that.You don't get any points or bonuses for adding a diary entry,it's just for fun.

Cooking Contest

In this mode there is two challenges,Solo and Friends.I can only comment on the solo section of this as I have never used the friends challenge before.In the solo challenge you perform different cooking methods like mashing,cutting etc and see how many of that specific thing you can do in the designated time.I have read that the friends challenge is basically the same thing but you play against a friend to try and beat their score.

The last thing is change design,which is self explanatory.You can change the design of Mama's outift,accessories,kitchen and utensils.

My Opinion

I have played all of the Cooking Mama games and enjoyed them all. I liked that in this version you cook for different people, therefore making it more of a challenge. I aim to get gold on all of the recipes which again, makes it more challenging.
Overall, I didn’t think the game was in any way difficult. There is some tricky recipes but nothing that can’t be done after a few tries!
I love cooking in real life so this game is perfect for me. This game can be played by anyone even if you can’t cook.Thank you for reading!
