This story is centred on three best friends who all work for the same magazine called The Londoner. They meet up on the first of each month in the Manhattan Cocktail bar to catch up on all the latest news in each others lives and generally have a good night out together.
Maggie Phillips is the editor of the magazine, married to a rich man and she's just about to go on maternity leave and live in a huge house in the country away from the hustle and bustle of London.
Candice Brewin is a full time journalist for the magazine, a little to trusting for her own good and filled with guilt for the fact that she had a privileged up bringing, possibly at the expense of others. It's 1942 a young boy is playing peacefully I his bedroom. However, somehow it's a jigsaw of a naked woman he has and his mother is annoyed at discovering this and finding heaps of pornography hidden all over his bedroom. She demands that he goes and gets her the matches so she can burn it all but the weird child being a true blue porn fan instead gets an axe and brutally, albeit very unrealistically, kills his mother. He is then found in the blood covered room after cutting her into several pieces.
Many years later and we have a random scene of a woman skating about on some University grounds before she crashes into two men carrying a mirror across a road. That scene seems pointless and is forgotten. But then another young woman is sitting on the lawn reading her book when she is disturbed by a man with a chainsaw cutting ...

Candice, Maggie and Roxanne are three successful, stylish and confident women, who all work for a magazine called ‘The Londoner’. They are each very different in their personalities and outlook on life. Candice is warm and trusting, maybe too trusting. Maggie, the magazine’s editor, is a high-flyer, efficient and in control. Roxanne is chic and glamorous and in love with a married man. The three women are the very best of friends, always there for one another, as close as the closest of sisters. Nothing will ever destroy their friendship.
Or so they think.
