Disadvantages It's still not Starbucks!

Review summary
A Wicked Way Of Making Your Coffee A Bit More Special. It Won't Make Your Coffee As Good As From Starbucks But It's Still Brilliant!

A couple of years ago I had a Baileys gift set that had a Baileys branded milk frother in it, to cut a long story short it was a load of rubbish and didn't make the milk much frothier than if I had just poured it into my coffee straight from the fridge! It went in the bin after about 3 weeks because it just stopped working.... and it didn't work all that good in the first place!!!

My mate works in Starbucks and she said she'd been trying to recreate their coffee at home, I mean they sell their own branded packs of coffee so in theory you should be able to get a wicked cup at home.... and yeah, sounds brilliant. But I didn't know how I could get the milk thick and frothy without their mega expensive machines. She said she'd been using an Aerolatte Milk Frother and offered to lend it me for a few days to see how I got on with it, I thought it would be as bad as the Baileys one but it was so good that the first time I used it I went onto Amazon and ordered myself one.

The Aerolatte Frother I've got is called the Moo edition, it's exactly the same as the silver one above and does the same thing apart from being printed black and white in a cow pattern...... weirdly for a special edition though it's a fiver cheaper! It cost £9 from Amazon.

You can either use the milk straight out of the fridge or warm it up in the microwave first, it goes frothy quicker if you nuke it for a few seconds though. When you're ready to froth your milk you just stick the frother into the jug and switch it on, the coil on the end will start spinning round fast and that is what turns the milk from liquid to thick froth.

You're never going to get milk as thick and yummy as what you get in Starbucks but I think the end result is wicked for such a small little gadget. It works best with full fat milk because it's thicker to start with, semi skimmed works ok but takes longer..... I don't DO skimmed milk so can't tell you about that but frothy skimmed on the top of my sweet coffee is a bit pointless!

When you've frothed your milk a quick rinse under the hot tap is enough to clean it up, the whole thing is specially sealed though so if you forget and the milk dries up a bit crusty on the end then you can give it a proper wash in hot soapy water. I sometimes use it to froth my hot chocolate up a bit and it's wicked for that but then it does need more than a rinse.

When you use it for hot chocolate you get a delish creamy froth on the top, it works best with hot chocolate that has been made with milk but you can also get a bit of a decent froth with them instant ones that you make up with water.

The Aerolatte works by using 2 normal sized batteries, these come with it and that was a bit of a surprise because with gadgets like this you've normally got to remember to go out and buy batteries!

Recommended...... it'll never be as good as Starbucks but it's deffo better than my old Baileys frother!
