As my continuing series of reviews on the Cookworks range of kitchen appliances I have been using, after being forced to buy the products as they were the only ones available when required quickly, my opinion of the brand the degree of enthusiasm with which I recommend them grows.
The CookWorks LW 082 Sandwich Toaster has become one of my used and favourite items, essential for any kitchen in my view. Nothing fills up a small gap like a toasted sandwich and this machine certainly knows how to make them! This retails at under ten pounds usually so you must be aware upon making your decision that this a low budget machine and cannot be compared fairly to the high end toasted machine.
The one thing that does hit you is that this machine is a very very odd size. At first it seems too small for normal sized loaves and indeed it proves to be by some distance. However, it is also too large for the smaller loaves available which seems like a very strange decision to make it this size as if you use smaller bread it seems like a waste and by the time it shrinks you are left which a tiny sandwich. Whereas a bigger slice will have the curst sticking out the side and miss toasting some of the bread. Easiest thing really therefore is to slice the bread ¾ its size to get the perfect size sandwich. The speed is about average for a toasting machine of this price and has a decent depth to it meaning you do not have to go sparingly on the filling!
There are a few issues with this toaster though one being that oddly it does not really shut properly leaving a gap between the base and lid. This means, and usually always means, that the filling seeps out onto the workbench making a messy kitchen. Also there are a number of holes in and around the machine where filling escapes to making it hard to keep clean. Also the cord is under a metre long which means that there isn’t much flexibility in where you can make the sarnies and I have had to rearrange my kitchen to accommodate.
All in all though for the price this is an excellent piece of kit which delivers good quality sandwiches quickly. For under a tenner you cant really complain. Also on dooyoo

Well written x
you cant beat a toasted sandwich - my machine floods the worktop with melted cheese and tomato juice everytime I use it, and is SOOOO not easy to keep clean
