Coffee anyone? Sleek design at a reasonable price

Advantages: Slim, simple & stylish - easy to use and store
Disadvantages: Needs a paper filter & coffee doesn't seem as hot as it should be!!

...weeks ago I won a Cookworks Signature Filter Coffee Maker. Hooray!!

When my prize wad delivered to my home, I was full of anticipation and eager to experience my first cup of fresh coffee. So I unwrapped it, admired its slim, stylish appearance and got down to business. Mmmm! Hitch. It wasn't the same as my last coffee maker. Inside there is a solid plastic filter, not a net one as I am used to. Ok - maybe I had better read the instructions. ...

Well, I know I may be a bit dim, but I hadn't seen a coffee maker like this before - the permanent filter in my last machine was net, I had assumed they all were. I studied the instructions carefully, but was not enlightened. Frustrated, I waited for my partner to come home - surely he would know? Or maybe ... more

Quick review of Cookworks Signature Aluminium

This coffee maker looks very nice but is a hassle to use. You have to pour the water VERY slowly or it spills everywhere. You have to put the pot on at exactly the right angle or it spills everywhere. The filter goes inside a removable plastic yoke (two pieces you have to wash - why?), which has to go in at exactly the right angle or the lid won't shut. And the first cup is always lukewarm; only after it sits awhile does it heat to a proper temperature. It doesn't drip properly either, meaning you have to turn the whole machine over the sink to fully empty it out. Don't buy. ...

Inexpensive and Easy to Use

Advantages: low cost, small size, ease of use
Disadvantages: none

There's not much that I can offer about a toaster - I mean, if it holds the bread and toasts it properly, it works. However, this is a nice little addition to our kitchen. It is a very small appliance, which is much appreciated given the limited amount of counter space in a London kitchen. Ours happens to be a nice, clean white, which goes with the decor and other appliances well. We are very pleased with how nicely it prepares the toast, and how quickly, too. It is also very easy to clean, with a removable crumb tray and wipe-friendly surface that doesn't show fingerprints easily. We have found that the Cookworks 2-Slice Toaster is an excellent value at about 10.00 GBP and we would be happy to buy other items in this cost-effective, space-saving line. ...
