Advantages: Cheap, small, robust, it does work Disadvantages: Tacky looking, outdated
...I had always wanted a digital camera, but sadly never had the money to spare for an all singing all dancing model. After getting married in June 2000, we found ourselves with a large amount of Argos vouchers as we'd not really wanted for anything specific so had said to people if you really feel the need to buy, make it vouchers.
Anyway, to cut a long story short, after buying some garden furniture and various household bits and pieces, there was £50 worth of vouchers left. Whilst thumbing through the Argos catalogue for probably the 100th time, I came across the Cool-iCam at a sum of £49.99, and decided that was where the last vouchers would go.
To be honest the picture in the catalogue didn't instil much faith in me. This particular model of Cool-iCam (the 2728) looked rather like one of those dodgy joke cameras that squirt water...

Advantages: Easy to use, Super Macro mode Disadvantages: Short battery life, slow responce time
...The C-310 Zoom is definitely a good camera for beginners. It provides easy access to simple picture taking, as well as having the ability to take short video clips. Furthermore, there are modes for landscape and self - portrait. The optical zoom function is also a plus - though it is only 3.2 megapixels, you have the equivalent of a 9mp camera with 3x digital zoom.
The "Super Macro Mode" is probably the best feature of all. I've taken some professional - quality photos with it - you can get incredibly high detail very close up.
The reason it only deserves 3 out of 5 are that it has several major drawbacks, the first of which is the battery life. It will last around 5 - 10 minutes with fresh, new batteries, and then will die. After only 5 minutes, it will begin to act oddly - the LCD will refuse to turn on, the responce is much...

Advantages: Great web cam Disadvantages: Not so hot as a digital camera
...I bought my Clicksmart 310 from ebay recently and am very pleased with the overall performance. For the price you pay, you cannot expect a state of the art digital camera, but for use as a web cam, its performance is very good.
Digital camera pictures are ok for use on a web site, and if taken in good lighting situations, but performance degrades with indoor use in poor light. The camera is powered by 4 AAA batteries for camer use, and draws power via its USB lead when connected to a PC.
As a web cam, its performance is excelent in Yahoo Messenger. The software installation was a dream and only took a couple of minutes under XP Pro. The software bundle is good, and includes a "motion" detector, which turns the camera on and records images to your hard disk while you are away; we've all heard the phrase "I did'nt touch your...
