Advantages: Easy installation, Cheaper than PIII Disadvantages: Runs hot without specific Athlon Heatsink/Fan
...Upon discovering that my machine from Time (a-hem!) could not be upgraded from an AMD K6-2 366 I was forced to upgrade big time. This was to be the first time I built a system from the ground up. My budget was £400, which had to include tower, motherboard, processor, graphics card and more memory.
My first choice of processor was an AMD one because of their reputation for being cheaper and sometimes more reliable than their Intel rivals. I decided to go for the AMD Athlon 750, quite a big step up from my 366!
Installation of the Athlon processor is very easy, but a dedicated Athlon heatsink/fan is a must as the Athlon run's like an oven without one. I got a CoolerMaster heatsink/fan, one of the best on the market. The heatsink/fan simply clips onto the slots on the Athlon chip, then the heatsink/fan/CPU simply slide into the Athlon...

Advantages: price, fast, stability, top performance, a lot better than intel, overclocking, good support Disadvantages: Heat is main problem.
...I compare a price and performance and Intel processor have been allways more expensive than AMD. All test at same Ghz showing that AMD is much faster. My first computer was AMD Duron 700 / Chaintech 7AJA. I had to choose between PIII and Duron 700 and i looked price and performance and i choosed AMD because i didn`t had so much money. After I bought new computer with AMD athlon processor I felt that computer is fast. XP boottime, games and test showed it also. I also have overclocked this processor as well. I looked toms hardware athlon overcloking tutorial and it works fin (+25% speed - stable). Main thing is that processor is good but like all other AMD processor has a problem of heating. If you have a cooler then it is all fine!

Advantages: Fast, Cheap, 64-bit, so much better than an Intel! Disadvantages: Lack of 64-bit programs out
...First Things First....this processor is actually called an AMD Athlon64 3000+, which means that it is the equivalent to an Intel 3Ghz. But it is called here a 2Ghz because AMD are better than Intel and their processors can handle more information, so can be slower, and therefore cooler. (e.g. a 2Ghz AMD is the same as a 3Ghz Intel!).
Now to the review, i bought this processor because i needed a new one badly and this was faster, had a bigger cache and was 64-bit, then i saw the price and my jaw literally dropped, i couldn't believe it!
I installed this processor fine first time, no hassle (though i would recomment removing the thermal compound on the supplied heatsink and using Arctic SIlver instead) and it works like a dream, even though it is the lower end of the Athlon64 market! As well as working fine it can also be overclocked...
