Laptops have an awful habit of getting very hot very fast and causing damage to themselves, so what you'll be wanting is a cooling pad such as this. Basically, it is a hard plastic stand with an inbuilt fan (this runs off your laptop power when plugged into a USB slot) and a metal mesh top.
