Advantages Ease of use. Delicious food.
Disadvantages None
I recently began to use a “Cordon Bleu” slow cooker to cook meat while I am out of the house at work.
This was a Christmas present from a business associate a couple of years back, but had lain in my attic ever since, still in the box and gathering dust. The first good point is its simplicity. You simply add water, any stock or vegetables that you wish to use, pop in your meat, and turn on the electricity. It can be left to simmer away in safety for the whole day, and does not boil dry because of the well sealed lid.
The results are amazing. The meat seems to absorb far more of the flavour of the added ingredients, and is so tender that it practically melts in your mouth. An added bonus is that the “left over” liquid can be used as a delicious base for a really good soup, by simply adding some bones and a couple of stock cubes.
