Advantages: Kate Ford Disadvantages: She Keeps Returning My Emails

What can I say, I just love Coronation Street and have done for years. To be honest I blame my mother for introducing me to this soap but then I also blame her for my poor clothing throughout my childhood and giving me no real attention as a child leading me to the person I am today……
Still let's go visit the people that make up the Street and have a bit of a laugh on the way, "hey can I come too", yeah sure you can Art, mmm that dual thing is worrying indeedy…….
Well the main story has to be Shelley and Charlie and at this wedding methinks there will be two charlies at the wedding. Like come on Shelley for gods sake sort it out girl. He has bedded your mum ( jeeez have you seen her mum, I wouldn't even go there ) he has bedded Liz (again what a thought) and he has made a move on Violet (now deff would make a move there).. Shelley used to be a great character as proven by her giving Peter Barlow the boot and now she has turned into this pathetic character, like plzzzzzzz, sort it out !! As for Charlie he is such a pain up the ass, I had thought that Deirdres neck movements were bad but when Charlie pulls that sly grimace of a grin with his lips I just want to hurl my tv out the window. So if you write Corrie marry them off and send the pair of them off on a slow boat to China…… Bit unkind there Art, oh shut you up or you are off as well !!
What about Hayley and Roy, indeedy what about this pair. The most farfetched episodes were when Roy thought after a drunken night he had slept with the babe that is Tracy. Like get it together Roy, did you really think that piece of female perfection wud sleep with you, take a mirror check my friend and also lose that damn bag you carry everywhere. And Hayley, like this character I just can't imagine turning up in my estate. Yeah everyone is sitting in the bar and in walks Roy with Hayley and he says with ease "Hi there everyone meet my new woman, oh and did I mention she used to be a man". Nahhh you didn't Roy mate but sure pull yerself a seat up and we will get you both a pint. Somehow my neighbourhood are a wee bit funny with things like that, or maybe we are behind the times. Please note that sort of thing does not personally bother me and what someone gets up to in the privacy of their own home is their business…..But for me Roy and Hayley are just soooo creepy !!
Then we have the Battersby family who belong in the Battersby dog home. We have the alpha male that is Les himself who used to bring a bit of humour to the program but who I now think has had his day. "A bit like yerself Art", hey just you sit there and give it a rest ok I am trying to get this finished, "its only crap anyway so why bother"….. Right ignore him and let's find others that live with Les such as Cilla, god could you imagine going home to that girl with your wages short…Nooooo way !!…Then we have the perfect couple Fiz and Kirk, I actually love Fiz to bits. Ok she's not a looker but there is just something about here that I like, could it be the red hair….perhaps !! Lastly of course is little Chesney who has picked up a few awards over the years for his acting, personally I just think he should be picked up and dumped in the back of a lorry taking him miles away from Corrie……
On down the street and we have the Websters, Kevin and Sally and what a pair they are. Sally for me is totally gormless and Kevin couldn,t run a raffle never mind a garage, still it's not my car they are working on. And then there are the girls Rosie and Sophie, god the number of time Sally sends them up the stairs to wash their hands is unreal. What about Rosie and her goth look lol, methinks she will be in the next Adams family ……….
Ok lets go visit the pratts, sorry I meant the Platt family. Enter the woman with a face that sunk a thousand ships, Gail Platt herself….."SLAP".. Sorry I have been wanting to slap that face for years, she just so annoys the hell out of me. Then there is Martin who gives dull a new meaning and the Platt kids, David and Sarah and off course little baby Bethany. David is a total pain up the ass and well as for Sarah, you only have to look at her boyfriend Scooter to see she is not the full shilling. Throw in Audrey and you have a family that like Richard you just want to drive into the nearest river. Please note I do not condone driving a car into a river unless you have good window wipers of course !!
Enter Mike Baldwin with his golf clubs and cigar with his latest lady friend Penny. Great car Mike and love the smile but somehow I could swear you have a dye running through that hair of yours. Act yer age you old fool !! Other members of the Baldwin family are Danny who is playing about with Leeanne his son Jamies girlfriend, disgusting behaviour. Then there is poor Warren who hold dreams of playing football but he's crap, many a night I shout "Yer so crap you should be playing for Man Utd"…
Down the street we have Ashley and Claire Peacock and they are similar to Roy and Hayley in that they are two freaks. That's a bit unkind Art, would you like people thinking you are a freak, mmm, but they do …I think !! Hey don't forget about his Dad Fred Elliot, I say don't forget Fred, I say don't forget Fred, ok you can stop now Art I think they got the joke !!
Then we have Steve and Liz McDonald and deff don't like this pair. There would also be Jim McDonald but he's in prison for overacting and totally destroying the Belfast accent. Steve needs to wake up and Liz needs to sort her voice out, as well as her hair and her sense of dress. In fact just stay in the house Liz !!!
The Barlows are my fav family and it's because they are so interesting. Ok who shouted out Ken is a boring old git. I prefer to call him interesting and give the guy a break, look at how many women he has pulled over the years. God even Deirdre has been on the pull through the years even with those damn specs that she wears. Worse soap sight is watching her smile and seeing that awful neck, sorry I had to type that bit before I had lunch as I always form a mental picture when I type. Then there is old Blanche who I would have kicked out years ago, what a miserable old bag…Saved the best until the last the fantastic Kate Ford as Tracy. I fell in love with her from the second she joined the show and just watching her makes my heart skip a beat. God that is so sad Art, you really want to get out more. Give over you, she is the star of Corrie and is one mean babe in the show, nobody messes with Tracy……..
Other people in the show are Norris….zzzzzz ok that is Norris described..Next !!…Well I suppose there is Emily Bishop who has been in the show for years, and is good for a good old moan. Mmmm she's just as boring as Norris and they would deff make a good couple…..
We also have Dev and Sunita who run the corner shop, Dev who is all flash harry but who also gives me the creeps. Sunita well she's just in the show to stand in the shop and sell milk and bread, let's move on……….
Now Rita is a fiery old bird who I like and has had her fair share of love affairs and fights over the years, love a fiery redhead. Or what about Betty who makes the hotpots over at the pub, have you actually seen anyone finish a hotpot, nahhh me neither… Then we have Maria but she can't be all there going out with Tyrone, like cmon Maria sort yourself out girl. You are a bit of a babe and he's no Brad Pitt and he is also a bit slow upstairs so get your act together. Then we have Violet the barmaid, do any of you remember her from Heartbeat, great wee show that !!!
As for people that have left the show, old Ena Sharples and Minnie Caldwell started the show off along with Annie Walker. And what about that blonde bombshell that was Bet Lynch, poor old Bet was let down so many times, I loved old Bet..Not forgetting Jack and Vera, I was sorry to see them leave the Street but I miss Hilda and Stan Ogden even more. Who can ever forget Hilda singing with those rollers in and poor old Stan losing his money on the horses, I am so glad I don't have any bad habits..Or Mavis Riley and her budgie and that awful voice " Ohhhhh Rita ", loved it !! Two people I don't miss are Ivy and Brian Tilsley, god I am not sure which of these I hated the most. Ivy with her false lips or Brian with that so sickly smile, ok I hate Brian more but it was a photo finish….
Well that's it Art you finished another review, yup I sure did and it was a hard job but I think it's alright. Hang on I will go check the spelling before you post it ok, jeeeeez what is keeping him reading it, "are you there Art"……Yup I am and it's ok to post altough it's a pile of old crap, you really are a nutter Art !!
Anyway thank you for reading and can I wish you a happy and peaceful weekend……

...written an opinion on Classic Coronation Street (shown on Granada Plus) which basically presented an overview of the programme. But I also wanted to write about the regular four-times-a-week Corrie, so here I am again on one of my favourite subjects.
I have been a viewer of this soap for some twenty-five years, but it is one programme that is just as good today – and, as those who have read other opinions by me might have noticed – that ... ...Another winning factor for Coronation Street is its humour, again contrasting to EastEnders, which has a reputation for being depressing. Personally, I love them both, but yes, Corrie is lighter, fluffier and has more “silly” characters, always guaranteed to make you smile. These days, Weatherfield is multi-racial and currently tackling the issue of arranged marriages, with Sunita holed up in Dev’s flat. (Personally, I wouldn’t ...

I’m Australian and that is exactly why I have always had a weak spot for the great British institutions…crumpets and tea, fetes on the Vicarage lawn, cricketing whites and cucumber sandwiches. Yet nothing quite sums up the British spirit ... ...as a six week show, Coronation Street first graced our screens on the 9th of December 1960 and has been running either as a twice-weekly or (now) thrice-weekly half hour ITV (Granada) show every week since…so by my reckoning that means that tomorrow night’s show will be 41 years and ten months old…not bad going for a six-parter eh?
Based in the mythical Mancunian outpost of Weatherfield, characters have come and gone but the cobbled streets and ...

Coronation Street………..All Those Years of Characters…… I hate to give my age away ,but I guess being called art1954 does that anyway. My first memory of the good old Street must be about the late sixties. I used to just catch bits of it on a rare night when I had nothing to do. My mum always watched it so I just sat and watched bits here and there because back then believe it or not I had a life. I actually went out a ... ...The old characters like Ena Sharples and Minnie Caldwell, god what about that old bag Ena Sharples. Was she an old battleaxe or what, she would have any of the new characters in the Street for breakfast. Or Ken Barlow’s old uncle Albert Tadlock, my vote for the most miserable soap character ever.. Other characters over the years, well Hilda and Stan Ogden. Good old Hilda and her rollers, like I mean to say, just how long do you women keep rollers ...

...a word. The programme is Coronation Street.
INTRODUCTION.
The programme is a soap opera and is based in Manchester. The general set is a street in the city, although other scenes or sets are used at various times, and not all the following places are actually in the street, but they are all in or around it.
The street has a corner shop, come sweet shop, post office.
There is a pub called the Rovers Return, and this is very central to many of ... ...very real problems.
In Coronation street people seem to maintain a consistency with their character, unlike East Enders where people regularly have personality transplants. One of the things that always strikes me about Coronation Street is that it makes me laugh quite regularly with certain characters such as Jack and Vera. They are exactly how I imagine a couple married as long as them, behave.
Coronation Street maintains a constant balance between ...

...on Dooyoo, of people criticising Coronation Street for the way that they dealt with Alma's condition, and the rate at which she went downhill and sadly died on Sunday. Cancer comes in various guises and sufferers die at different rates, dependant on how far the cancer has spread. Often sufferers fail to be diagnosed until the sufferer has secondaries, by which point it is often (although not always) difficult to do anything about it.

As I ... ...is possibly too late.
Coronation Street
In my opinion, it dealt with it effectively and portrayed what could possibly be to someone a very real situation, no-one except an expert can judge the spread and damage of cancer, and therefore how can any of us novices pass judgement?
THE MORAL?
If you haven't had a smear, make sure you have one - whats less then 10 mins embarrassment compared to possibly dying, or suffering months of horrendous chemotherapy?

Advantages: Good sense of fun - great characters Disadvantages: It tries some of the more serious stuff and fails
Of all the various soap operas on UK terrestrial television, there is probably only one of which I would describe myself an avid viewer – and that is CoronationStreet. Despite the fact that the series has been running for nearly 40 years, it still has a fresh, vibrant feel to it and for escapist television, I don’t think it can really be beaten. Currently screened on ITV1 at least four times per week, this show is, for me anyway, compulsive viewing and in spite of my better judgement, I regularly find myself discussing events when in the office.
THE SETTING
As you are no doubt aware, CoronationStreet is set in a fictitious district of Greater Manchester called Weatherfield. Most of the action centres around one street – as named in the title – where we observe the events and lives of a mixture of residents ...

~ ~ What is there about CoronationStreet, the soap drama about everyday life in a typical Manchester working class street, that has kept it at the top of the ratings on a consistent basis ever since the very first episode way back in the mists of time in December of 1960?
At that time there was only two channels in the UK, good old “aunty” herself, the BBC, and ITV, the one with the adverts.
And there was no competition from the BBC with programmes like Neighbours, as there is now.
~ ~ I was just turned nine years old when this soap first hit our screens, in all its black and white glory, the same age as my own daughter is today.
And I grew up with this programme, which was staple diet twice a week in our household, and God help you if you dared to open your mouth while it was on!!
Then there were characters like ...
Advantages: great chance to catch up on old episodes Disadvantages: none
When we decided to finally get Digital TV last year, one of the main reasons was to watch the old episodes of soap operas. Classic CoronationStreet is one of the highlights on Granada Plus, being shown weekdays at midday - the perfect time to stop writing on Ciao and sit down in front of the TV with a sandwich and a cuppa. It is also repeated early in the evening.
I first watched CoronationStreet in the 1970s, but remember most from the 1980s. I remember Hilda and Stan Ogden, in their room with the tacky flying ducks and the landscape “muriel” on the wall… Alan Bradley with his cruelty towards our beloved Rita, and his much deserved demise under a Blackpool tram. ... His teenage daughter, Jenny, who was around my age and a bit of a role model at the time, but looking back, those ra-ra skirts and huge plastic ...
