===Why did I buy it?===
When baby Isabella got too big for her cradle I looked in the Tesco Direct catalogue and had a look at some of the cots available. They all looked good and reasonably priced but then I thought to myself "it's not going to last her a very long time and she'll be needing a bed soon after". So I had a look at the cot beds available (p.865). I instantly thought that these were the better option. I knew she'd ... ...a standard cot.
===Why this one? ===
The Stratford cot bed has 3 position mattress base fittings with teething rails on the top of the bars, and it changes into a bed - perfect. It's suitable from birth onwards and the mattress is sold separately. H90xW80xL147cm. It came in a choice of two colors; white or brown. I bought the white version at £243. I thought it would give a brighter glow to the bedroom. The others looked ... more

So I had a look at the cot beds available (p.865). I instantly thought that these were the better option. I knew she'd get more wear out of the cot bed than just a standard cot.
Why this one?
The Stratford cot bed has 3 position mattress base fittings with teething rails on the top of the bars, and it changes into a bed - perfect. It's suitable from birth onwards and the mattress is sold separately. H90xW80xL147cm. It came in a choice of two colors; white or brown. I bought the white version at £243. I thought it would give a brighter glow to the bedroom. The others looked just as nice but this one looked modern yet traditional at the same time. Something to keep for the next!
Once it's arrived.
It arrived in a flat pack that you have to put up yourself. The cot it's self was very easy to put up and is fairly easy to change the mattress base height with 2 of you needed to complete the task safely (that is if you have a partner who doesn't have the patience for DIY). The instructions looked pretty straight forward and all the parts required were enclosed.
How did the child take to the cot?
Like a dream. She loves her bed and looks forward to going in it. I have to mention that the bars are easy for little legs and arms to get caught in. However I have solved this problem with a cot bumper.
Easy to clean and use in general?
Its fairly easy to use. It has one side that comes down, and thats on a latch system. However, you do need two hands to release them. Not good when you got baby in one and trying to get side down with the other. It cleans very easy with a damp cloth as the paint work has a fairly silky feel to it, and marks just wipe off. The mattress is easy to change and get to.
I have tried up loading pictures of it but it keeps saying file too big so apologies for that.
A nice cot bed. We chose the antique pine one and are pleased with the wood and the finish, The varnish is a little shiny for our taste but I guess that's the price of having wipe clean wood.
It has 3 mattress height positions, drop side, teething rails and the footboard splits for when you need to change it from a cot to a bed.
A disadvantage is that it doesnt have a one handed drop down method like many other cots do,so to drop the side you have ... ...niggle not a huge problem.
I built it easily on my own without the instruction book.Some how it arrived to us without the book but to cosatto's credit they swiftly replied to my complaining email with a copy of the instructions. Isn't it nice when a firm actually responds to emails for once?
we bought the cot from the glasgow pram centre during their sale for £140 inc mattress ...
