COSTA DEL SOL Benalmadea Costa, I'm afraid I was always a bit of a 'travel snob' regarding the Costa del Sol. I envisaged the types of scene in TV's Benadorm, a type of Blackpool with sun. As members of a vacation club ( it was then Sunterra now Diamon Resorts) we had the opportunity for a weeks break for relatively few points at the Sahara Sunset in Benalmadea Costa, as we could get Easy Jet airfairs to Malaga for a very low price we decided to try it. I’ve just returned from a one-week holiday in Benalmadena in Costa Del Sol (June 2004) and would like to provide some information about Benalmadena Resort & Benalmadena Palace Apartments where we stayed. ****Benalmadena Palace Apartments**** Newly opened in February 2004, this Apart-Hotel has 4-Star rating. The coach transfer from Malaga Airport to the Hotel was only about 30 minutes and that included a drop off a one other hotel first. Very soon after I first joined Ciao I remember checking out a few opinions on the Costa del Sol, seeing as I had just booked to go on holiday there! One of the opinions was written by a British ex-pat who now lives in Marbella, and now, after my holiday, I can only say how jealous I am! The Costa Del Sol has been a popular resort for Brits for many years. It is only 2.5 hrs from Gatwick airport and has all modern amenities us Brits require to make our holiday and blazing sun to go with this during the summer months! Flights to Malaga are reasonably cheap and all the High street Travel Agents offer last minute package deals at very good rates. The Cost Del sol has so much to do no matter how old you are. I have been visiting the picturesque resort of Nerja for the past twelve years. I never seem to tire of it and there is always something new to discover. I have seen many changes, not least the new motorway; which has cut the journey from Màlaga down to approximately 45 minutes instead of the hour and a half it used to take on the coast road (N340). The motorway is excellent, although care needs to be taken if you are unused to driving in Spain. It is a very fast road and it can be a bit scary when traffic from the sliproad merges.
