I should have gone to a...
I was put onto Countrywide solicitors by Bairstow Eves who were charged with selling my flat. Once the buyers were found I was informed by Bairstow Eves that the management company of the development where my flat is situated are notoriously slow in processing requests for management packs. I also received a text from Countrywide informing me that I would have to pay an extra £252 so that they could request said pack. This was all at the end of September and I was expecting to complete in November as I am using Countrywide’s fast track service.
To say I was surprised when, just before Christmas, I received a letter from Countrywide requesting a management pack from me would be an understatement. Enclosed was a letter from the buyer’s lawyers that was dated back in November. This letter was to remind Countrywide that they had not yet sent the management pack that had been requested weeks earlier.
The telephonists they employ are all very professional and friendly when palming people off and I’ve requested that the solicitor ring me back three times to no avail. Actually, they never ring me at all. They ring Bairstow Eves and tell them that they have been trying to contact me for days making my estate agent think it is me holding things up. My phone has an answering machine and they have never left a message and it is their policy not to ring mobile phones as they are too money grabbing.
