Advantages None.
Disadvantages Shocking incompetence and horrendous communication with clients.
On the recommendation of our estate agent, we decided to use CWPL, as we laboured under the delusion that it would be 'more efficient', 'simpler' and 'less stressful' than using an independent solicitor. On all of these counts we have been proven wholly wrong, time and again. On numerous occasions, the 'team' assigned to our case has a demonstrated complete and utter ability to pursue aspects of our purchase in a timely fashion (for example, allowing several weeks to elapse before contacting our mortgage provider about an issue that needed to be verified), extreme lack of attention to important details of the legal documentation (for example, failing to spot errors and inconsistencies in the draft purchase contract and in other documents that would have rendered them invalid), and a total failure to communicate accurately and efficiently with one another, much less with us (for example, different members of the same 'team' providing wildly different information about aspects of exchange and completion). If you actually want to complete your house purchase and retain your sanity in the process, AVOID CWPL AT ALL COSTS. Slogging through the conveyancing process at CWPL's mercy has left us totally exhausted, stressed out like never before, and in serious doubt as to whether all aspects of the purchase have, in fact, been completed properly. The whole 'one stop shopping' approach to conveyancing may SEEM like a good idea (when your estate agent or Countrywide mortgage broker suggests it to you while you are under the influence of having just found your dream home and therefore especially susceptible to suggestion), but believe me, it is not. There is NOTHING about CWPL that I can recommend.
