Born and bred in Coventry and now living in Suffolk I followed Coventry City since I can remember. My dad was a long serving season ticket holder for more than 40 years and he introduced me to Coventry City Football Club. I am a firm believer in supporting the local team of the city you were born in and Coventry was mine. I remember when I was at school that it was the in thing to be seen in a Liverpool shirt because at the time they were the ones winning everything. Now it’s Man Ure (sorry Utd) and it makes me sick to death. I’ll go through a bit of the history of the “Sky ... more

Advantages Advantages good player manager, some great players

Disadvantages Disadvantages first division, strange transfer policy

One of the league's 'forgotten' teams, most people don't even know that Coventry were the third longest surviving team in the top flight until their relegation a few seasons ago. The legend that is Jimmy Hill even played for them in his prime. So I thought I would take a look at my favourite team, 'The Sky Blues'. Although I live up north now, I grew up just outside Coventry and have followed them for more than 15 years. Introduction ----------------- I'll start with a bit of history for the club. Coventry were originally called Singers FC, before changing their name in 1898. The club was set ... more

Reports today and yesterday in newspapers that Inter Milan are considering to put in a bid for Robbie Keane in the region of £12.5 million. I think if they do make an offical bid Coventry will accept as this is a lot of money for them. I think this will be a big disapiontment for the Coventry fans, and myself as Robbie Keane is a vastly talented young player. At only 20 years of age, the best is yet to come from the Republic of Ireland international forward. I just wished that Aston Villa had brought him while they had the chance. ... more

3 Stars Depth in squad 26/07/2000

    Advantages Advantages Good attacking quality

    Disadvantages Disadvantages No real playmaker

When the individual squad of Coventry City is analysed there are indeed some very talented individuals .The likes of Keane,Hadji,Chippo Rouselle and in my opinion Zuniga (Who looks a first class finisher) .However Coventry do not have strength in depth in all positions to really be threatening for a top half position .They have 6 very good strikers Rouselle,Keane,Aloisis,Wheelan,Zuniga nad Boothroyd but what we lack is is a good central Midielder who can get from box ,with Macallister gone to Liverpool I fear they will struggle to provide the quality strikers with opportunties. My preiction for ... more

    4 Stars Robbie Keane 30/08/2000
    User recommends the product

Advantages Advantages A good future for him

Disadvantages Disadvantages Coventry have lost out

Coventry are a club with great ambition and a great chairman. Last season Brain Richardson has £7,000,000 on division one Wolves’ star and full Ireland striker, Robbie Keane. On his full debut he scored the only goals of the game in a 2-0 victory over Midlands rivals, Derby County. His goal scoring form continued and the man who Alex Ferguson said was worth ‘£500,000 and a place in the reserves’ was soon attracting interest from the big clubs and England and Europe. Just before the start of the 2000/1 campaigned Inter Milan tabled a bid of £13,000,000 for him. Neither Coventry chairman ... more
