Advantages: Good glide, large water tank Disadvantages: None
...Having killed my last iron (I managed to melt a fleece onto the soleplate!), it was time for an upgrade. My previous iron was also a Rowenta, a model down from this one. I had always been happy with the brand, so I decided to go for the DM825. My decision was helped by a recommendation by Which Extra in their best buy guide.
The DM825 Professional Luxe Steam Iron (to use its full name), is a very good all round iron. It looks modern and attractive (I've had it about 5 months now and it still looks brand new). It's not too heavy and glides really well, which is a definite advantage as I now get the ironing finished much quicker than before, and I can honestly say the results are very good.
All the buttons are easy to use and it does seem to warm up to just the right temperature on each setting. The temperature 'wheel' is just...

Advantages: inexpensive and has great suction Disadvantages: fiddly to use, clogs up easily
...Firstly, why did I buy this cleaner? We've had three Dysons over the past six years or so - they keep breaking down. Now, I really must explain that this is nothing to do with an overly dirty house! Given repair costs etc we have rarely had them fixed. When the last Dyson we had broke down we decided that forking out £250+ every other year or so was daft, and so we decided to try another brand.
We wanted:
Good suction
Good design with edge tool, etc
Bagless
Reasonably lightweight
My wife prefers uprights
Stair cleaning facility
Low cost - initially and ongoing, in terms of lifelong washable filters
Not much then?
We looked all over the place and ended up in Curry's! While there, a chap saw us looking at the DM4523 and took the time to tell us that he had one, and that it was the best vacuum he had ever owned. Well...

Advantages: Has powerful suction Disadvantages: Only works for minutes at a time
...We purchased the Hoover DM 5525 2000w in October 05 having given away a Dyson to a friend who so was so pleased with it we could not ask for it back.
We have been stuck with this maching as it is not exactly faulty, just very unsatisfactory and poor design. Although we do not own a pet, the filters still clog up with dust very regularly and have to be emptied at least once during a cleaning session. The machine will cut out on a regular basis and has to be left for a period of time before it can be used again.
We would not recommend this machine to anyone and think it does Hoover's reputation no good at all being in it's range. Most people having had one of these machines would avoid buying another Hoover. I only wish I had read reviews before purchasing....

We have had this cleaner for 16 weeks and find that it is always blocking up round the filter in the collection box. We use the cleaner most days and have to remove the filter after each use otherwise the motor cuts out part way through cleaning.
