Crash Bandicoot

Two decades of the ginger Crash Bandicoot and people are still not bored with the series and people often refer to this game as being legendary and a fair few of my friends are fond of this because of childhood memories when they played this game on the Playstation one console. Orginally created by NaughtyDog the game was original and a classic platform game which is great for all of the family and a prescious keepsake to some Crash Bandicoot fans. Over the years though NaughtyDog seized to create the story for the game and it moved over to Activision who started off doing a good job but then went on to do a not so good job. Crash Bandicoot fights his evil nemisis and - later to be found out - father, Dr Cortex who also has another "creation" Nina Cortex. While Cortex spends most of the game manipulating Crash Bandicoot into collecting Crystals he also finds that Crash beats him alongside acompanying help from Ooga Booga (his magical tikki mask) and Coco (his sister - or at least we think it is). In the Crash Bandicoot series there are various bosses to overcome of which have their own defences and weapons whereas Crash can only really spin, jump or bellyflop but in later games he has a wompa gun and other skills.

Gameplay

CTTR goes more into detective mode this time around and Crash needs to roam the theme park and collect the five pink gems in order to find the culprit behind the crimes.
In this game instead of completing levels Crash needs to run around doing erins and unlocking cars which he can drive around in later on in the day. There will also be mini games around the theme park where Crash can collect crystals. The crystals will help Crash to unlock the levels. You can also do races in this game where you can crash into other cars and shoot them but the task will be to either come first or to destroy as many targets or opponents as possible. This game isn't the most rivetting if I'm honest and I think this is where Activision really started to embarass the Crash Bandicoot series

Graphics

The graphics met my expectations in this game and I found them to be quite good - especially when you get to crash into another car to mutate into both of them! The colours and the animations of the game are actually pretty impressive and I can't really fault the game for this.

Sound

I didn't think the music was too annoying this time round unless you use the guns and it's slightly more variant than it's predecessors although I do think that it can still be quite annoying.

Difficulty & Complexity

I found this game to be incredibly easy to be honest and overall it's not actually that difficult to complete and it's not a complex story to follow either - my overall opinion is that it's just a load of mini games bunged together and that's about as much effort as they wanted to put in to be honest and I found this quite disapointing.

Longevity

Like I said, this game is quick to complete because it's so easy and I think on average it takes about eight hours to complete if you sit there and focus on just that game - it is possible.

Although I find that you actually wouldn't want to spend this long playing this game as it can be quite boring considering that it is just mini games and racing bunged together. There was just no real thought put into this game and there's no inbetween the scenes story.

Multiplayer

The multiplayer mode can only be accessed outside of the story mode and to be honest it's not all it's cracked up to be and it's frustrating with how easy it is so it's not much fun to play this game with friends.

Value for money

I think I paid about £8 for this game but to be honest it's only really worth about £4 at the most as it's not brilliant but it's ok to pass the time by I suppose.

Conclusion

Overall I'm going to rate this two stars out of five because I don't think it meets expectations at all and if I'm going to be completely honest I also think that there are a lot of improvements that could be made on this game and it's a shame that they weren't met - although it would have been better to just not release this game. I also wont be recommending this to a friend.
