soundtrack. Sega ported it over to the Dreamcast where it sold by the bucket load, and now it's available for the PS2. And it's superb. The aim of the game is simple: drive a ludicrously fast taxi and make oodles of cash as quickly as possible.Taking one of four drivers, each with their own skill set, the player needs to locate and pick up potential passengers, all of whom are identified by the appearance of a coloured dollar symbol above their head. From that point on it's a race against time through crowded streets to get the passenger to their destination while picking up healthy tips for speed on the way. Tips can be increased through the execution of stupidly dangerous stunts and the cunning use of the short cuts and back alleys the game offers. There are three major modes of play, offering the cityscape of the arcade original, a world created especially for the console versions of the game, and the oddly named Crazy Box mode, which sets a number of challenges ranging from high-speed ski-jumps to water balloon popping--an interesting if slightly unusual addition.Graphically,Crazy Taxiis a treat. Big, bold vehicles fairly rocket around the streets of the sprawling city, which has environments ranging from shopping malls to freeways and beaches. Everything shifts along at a fairly steady 60 fps and the only gripe is the pop-up at long distance, which is irritating but doesn't ultimately doesn't affect gameplay. Sound is excellent, with some thumping skate-punk tunes provided by the Offspring and friends and comedy backchat from the cab drivers and their passengers. Prolonged play may take the edge off this hilarity, but only time will tell. What's sadly missing is any kind of multi-player facility.Crazy Taxiis strictly single player. This isn't really an issue (especially after closing time when the living room's packed with prospective Travis Bickles all patiently waiting a turn), but the ability for a two player Vs mode would have been the icing on the cake. This game certainly isn't aGran Turismoor aFormula 1 2001. There's not even a hint of simulation and the real world never gets a look-in. Instead, this is pure, blissful arcade entertainment.

So SEGA have quit the hardware scene. They will no longer produce consoles like the Dreamcast, instead they will be concentrating on developing games for other platforms like Playstation 2, X-Box and Gamecube.
Well all I can say is this...if the games are going to be anything like Crazy Taxi 2, then PRAISE BE!!!
SEGA has always made great consoles, and stunning games to go on them, now they can really concentrate on the games, and Crazy Taxi 2 seems to be the way they are heading.
If you don’t know, Crazy Taxi is pretty obviously the follow up to Crazy Taxi. That was originally an arcade game ported to Dreamcast, and more recently to Playstation 2. It was massively popular, with the aim being to drive your cab round one of 2 cities collecting passengers and delivering them to their destinations as fast as possible. The frantic nature of the game along with the tricks you could pull and excellent visuals made it a sure fire hit, now we have the second coming.
Mainly sticking to the “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” formula, SEGA has made Crazy Taxi 2 a masterpiece of a fun game. It is better than its predecessor in every way, and that can only be a good thing. The aim remains to bomb round the cities (New York this time) and get as much cash as you can.
However there have been one or two little changes that do make it significantly different from Crazy taxi 1. A new move has been added, and the bonus challenges section has been totally overhauled. More on those later.
Plot (?)
The idea as I said is to get cash by picking u fares, but Crazy Taxi 2 has more options to offer than that. As well as the 2 cities, playable in arcade, 3, 5, or 10-minute modes, you can play the Crazy Pyramid.
The pyramid is a set of challenges designed to train your skills, as well as set a few records. These range from getting to a destination along a very bendy road in the fastest time, or popping balloons. One of the best is where you have to smash into a giant golf ball and send it as far as you can. Great fun.
There is also the Crazy Driving option, where you can have 80 seconds to drive around a city without the pressure of looking for fares. As well as using this to get your bearings, you can use the 80 seconds to pull as many tricks and stunts as you can, before recording the session and I think you can upload it to the Internet too.
Graphics.
The Dreamcast may be dying but it is going in style, games like Sonic 2 and this are truly showcasing the console’s abilities. Crazy Taxi looked good but this is superb in every detail.
The animation on the passengers and vehicles is as smooth as ever, and the backdrops of the city look totally amazing – you can definitely tell where you are. Slowdown from the first game has been virtually eliminated and this results in a smoother and more frenetic game overall, little cosmetic touches and background issues like popup have also been taken care of..
The speed of the game is terrific, and the depiction of that is well done on the game, you really feel like you’re zooming along, all that’s missing is the wind in your hair.
Soundtrack.
Welcome back The Offspring. The manic punk/rock band have returned to add their fast paced guitar tracks to this sequel. I’m not a particular fan of theirs generally but their music suits the game down to the ground. The tracks blare out at you and add a real pace to the game, and whilst the selection is limited as opposed to the likes of Metropolis Street Racer, they more than do the job.
The sounds from the cabs and passengers are pretty similar to game one, but the insults have changed for when you fail (happens to me a lot)
Gameplay.
Immensely addictive is the term best used for this game, Crazy Taxi 2 (like the first) has that “one more go” factor in its favour. You just have to have another crack at getting a few dollars more, or completing one more pyramid challenge.
The controls and style of play are extremely intuitive and the game is very easily picked up. This again makes for a fun time as there are no massive things to learn, just slot it in and start playing.
The difficulty curve is also nice, anyone can get the lower licence awards for earning a few thousand dollars, but the best drivers are the only ones who will see the elusive A-licence. The pyramid has a similar difficulty curve, all the challenges at first are quite easy, but they get harder and harder and the records harder to break as you go on.
So What’s New Here ?
I said CT2 had a few new tricks to make it different, and here they are.
The Crazy Hop move is the first major change, basically this is the ability for your cab to jump, a quick tap of the button sends your cab upwards (dependant on speed.) This is a really useful trick for avoiding head on collisions and brings a new meaning to the word overtake. The Crazy Hop is very helpful, but at times it can make the game a little easy.
The other major change is the ability to make multiple pickups at once, you can get up to 4 people in the cab at any time and then you have to take them all wherever they are going. It is more challenging as you have more destinations but they all tip you for tricks so the cash can rocket up.
These new additions keep the game fresh but it’s nice to see the main parts of the game that we loved are still there.
Manual.
For a game this basic in premise there isn’t a need for a massive manual, but the book you get tells you everything you need to know, however I recommend leaving it and learning through playing.
Overall.
A fitting finale to the Dreamcast, or at least part of it. SEGA has a bright future if the games are going to be as good as this, and while CT2 will not last forever, you’ll always dig it out for the odd o once you think you’ve seen it all. It’s that addictive.
Advantages: Great graphics and fun gameplay Disadvantages: Not enough characters
...doesn?t sound too appealing, but Crazy Taxi 2 proves everyone wrong. Crazy Taxi 1 was a great success and has been converted to PS2 and Gamecube to prove it. If Crazy Taxi 2 lived up to its older brother, then it would be a good a game as any on the Dreamcast. Crazy Taxi 2 has an improved game structure, meaning that it doesn?t let you play the arcade modes until you have completed key parts of the training. CRAZY PYRAMID This is the training zone ... ...33 customers in 6minutes. Crazy Pyramid is very challenging later on but top class entertainment throughout, with great gameplay and lastability. SMALL APPLE Small apple is the first arcade mode that you win. This is a small-scale city, which is slightly easier than usual. The Small Apple is there mainly to prepare you for the next episode. However, this is still a very exciting, fast level. The graphics are beautifully rounded and extremely realistic. ...

...extremely fun? I think not. Crazy Taxi 2 is the sequel to an acclaimed title which was one of the star releases for the Dreamcast, by Sega. Both Crazy Taxi and Crazy Taxi 2(CT&CT2 from now on) are made by Sega and both feature highly addictive and enjoyable gameplay, and yes, your mother won't mind. What truly separates these two titles? Read on to find out. CT2 differs from CT in only a few areas when it comes to gameplay. The most noticeable part ... ...Pyramid is just like the Crazy Box from the original CT. In which you would play special games, like driving passengers to a place in under 2 minutes, etc. In Crazy Pyramid, the same thing is in place, the main difference is the addition of 5 tiers of events. Each level gets harder and each tier unlocks another feature. If you do beat the Cray Pyramid you can play as the original game's drivers. When it comes down to the heart of the game, they are ...

...me. But then that isn’t crazy taxi, the funniest driving game ever. Instead of just being exactly what I said before crazy taxi lets you do so much more. But this is the sequel, with more fun, craziness and above all addictiveness. What makes Crazy taxi 2 so different from the first mouth-watering game is the way they realized what was wrong and how they added new things to make it a whole new experience. What made the old game special? What ... ...new manoeuvre that is the crazy hop, where you leap off of the ground and go flying over the traffic, which gets you a big tip. The downside is that you cannot control the cab in mid air and you might hit the walls on many occasions.
The best change is probably the way you can now pick up groups of people as well as individuals, which is great fun. Picking up a group of mime artists or Cheerleaders is very amusing indeed. You get quite a big amount ...

Advantages: graphics and sound what more could you want Disadvantages: i cant see any
Everyone loves Crazy Taxi. It was the best selling game last year than anything else on the Dreamcast. The first had it all graphics, tunes, gameplay and now that the sequal is out it is time to start saving your money to buy Crazy Taxi 2. A good thing for all those hard to learn game people is that Crazy Taxi 2 has just the same controls as the last game. Everything from the last game has been included in the new one. Crazy Dashes, Crazy Drifts ... ...in it like instead of Crazy San Francisco it is Crazy New York. New York has been split up into two maps which are called Around apple (being the bigger map) and small apple (being the smaller map.) The former is on a larger scale than the latter, basically, with outlying suburbs of the city to visit, and even a bridge over the Hudson river. The latter is a more concentrated take on the middle of the town, with the world famous Central Park and the ...

...if they are entertaining. However Crazy Taxi 2 is such an accurate port from arcade to Dreamcast that ot has turned into a heap of frustrating rubbish. Each game lat far too short a time which although ok in an arcade (Money grabbing) is not very entertaining.
If you own the first Crazy Taxi then keep your money in your pocket and avoid this game.
The game consist of driving round a large city picking up passangers in your taxi and taking them to ... ...the origonal game.
I had a few friends round for a beer the other night and the game was played quite extensively in an enviroment where it was enjoyed but is not for individual games players.
Worth a purchase if you dont have the first crazy taxi . ...

Advantages: The latest Technology....Wow! Disadvantages: Games, Problems, cost, being a poor student!
The playstation 2 has been one of the most powerful games machine to ever be let loose on the consumer market, However you may be asking is it worth it? Well personnally at the moment I wouldn't buy one, I got one of the first playstation's ones and had to watch the price fall sharply month after month, sure it felt great having a brand spanking new playstation when your mates didn't, But it soon wore thin when you took a look at what titles where avilable, same applies for the playstation 2. There's no machine like it for sure, but why buy a 300 pound machine when at the end of day the games are rubbish. The games problem will however lift, with Sega ditching the dreamcast and making games for the playstation 2, quality games like crazytaxi and maybe even sonic. The playstation 2 does have a dvd player, however there are many problems ...
Advantages: DVD drive but thats about it Disadvantages: Costs too much
. The machine looks rather tacky as well but it is ment to have good graphics and i have to say that yes the graphics are good but i have seen better.
I saw screenshots for CrazyTaxy, a rather excelent SEGA game, and all i could think was that it looked much much worse than the Dreamcast version, people say that the Dreamcast is finished but it should be tha PS2 that is finished unless it can bring out some new games of its own that are as good as the ones that SEGA can make.
If you do want to go online with a console you can buy this one and wait for the internet connection to be brought out with it or you can get a Dreamcast the chioce is yours. There should be some good games comming out on PS2 soon and these are CrazyTaxy and Half-life (a must get on any platform).
In finishing if you like to play games then i would surgest go ...
Advantages: nice cars, nice tracks, long term gameplay. Disadvantages: need to rely a lot on picking up boosts.
I think this game is up there with v-rally2 and crazytaxi, as one of the best racers on the Dreamcast. This game will take ages to get all the cars(over 60 in all). There is also 24 detailed tracks with weather. Good handling, but not as good as Colin Mcrae. 2 player mode is a fast 60 frames per second. On championship mode You can customise your 4 wheel car or truck by winning money as you race. This game is fun, it has got monster trucks, quads, buggies, jeeps and an assortment of toy cars.Buy this game yesterday, you won't be disappointed. ...
