Everyone loves Crazy Taxi. It was the best selling game last year than anything else on the Dreamcast. The first had it all graphics, tunes, gameplay and now that the sequal is out it is time to start saving your money to buy Crazy Taxi 2. A good thing for all those hard to learn game people is that Crazy Taxi 2 has just the same controls as the last game. Everything from the last game has been included in the new one. Crazy Dashes, Crazy Drifts and Coloured circles for picking up customers (green for long, red for short.) But if the game is much like the other one then it would be boring, so there are a load of changes in it like instead of Crazy San Francisco it is Crazy New York.
New York has been split up into two maps which are called Around apple (being the bigger map) and small apple (being the smaller map.) The former is on a larger scale than the latter, basically, with outlying suburbs of the city to visit, and even a bridge over the Hudson river. The latter is a more concentrated take on the middle of the town, with the world famous Central Park and the Ferry Port both to be discovered. Neatly, though, there's an overlap between the two maps, so the same landmarks are featured on both. Also, look out for a big real-life store like HMV, the hard rock cafe,Gap and burger king, amoung others.
The taxi drivers have also changed and just like the other game there are four drivers called ICEMAN,CINNAMON,HOT-D and SLASH. Another added feature not seen in the original is the Crazy Hop. This helpful move can get you over buildings by jumping. It can also get you extrta tips from customers and you can even jump the traffic. All you have to do is prees Y and away you go. One problem is you cannot control yourself in the air.
Crazy Box mode has been changed to Crazy Pyramid mode. You must complete 16 challenges which form the shape of a pyramid. Every time you complete a challenge you get an item for example maps of New York. Examples of challenges are Crazy Golf and Crazy Hurdle.
Picking up four people at a time has been added to the game as well. It may sound fun but it is hard. You must think ahead of where to take each person then to get to the other. Replays are very coo to watch as you can save good runs in the streets or on Crazy Pyramid mode. Angle changing of the camera was a cheat in the old game but now it can be used when you want. So overall the game is a real hoot and is definately one to buy for all Dreamcast owners. With great graphics, sounds and it will last for ages it is the number one game this month.
