The aim of the game is simple: drive a ludicrously fast taxi and make oodles of cash as quickly as possible.Taking one of four drivers, each with their own skill set, the player needs to locate and pick up potential passengers, all of whom are identified by the appearance of a coloured dollar symbol above their head. From that point on it's a race against time through crowded streets to get the passenger to their destination while picking up healthy tips for speed on the way. Tips can be increased through the execution of stupidly dangerous stunts and the cunning use of the short cuts and back alleys the game offers. There are three major modes of play, offering the cityscape of the arcade original, a world created especially for the console versions of the game, and the oddly named Crazy Box mode, which sets a number of challenges ranging from high-speed ski-jumps to water balloon popping--an interesting if slightly unusual addition.Graphically,Crazy Taxiis a treat. Everything shifts along at a fairly steady 60 fps and the only gripe is the pop-up at long distance, which is irritating but doesn't ultimately doesn't affect gameplay. Sound is excellent, with some thumping skate-punk tunes provided by the Offspring and friends and comedy backchat from the cab drivers and their passengers. Prolonged play may take the edge off this hilarity, but only time will tell. What's sadly missing is any kind of multi-player facility.Crazy Taxiis strictly single player. This isn't really an issue (especially after closing time when the living room's packed with prospective Travis Bickles all patiently waiting a turn), but the ability for a two player Vs mode would have been the icing on the cake. This game certainly isn't aGran Turismoor aFormula 1 2001. There's not even a hint of simulation and the real world never gets a look-in. Instead, this is pure, blissful arcade entertainment.

You may or may not have played this game in the arcade. If you have you will know how addictive it is and you probably will have put over £10 in the dam machine! Well luckily for all you arcade fanatics out there it has been converted to the dreamcast and that is what this op is all about. Hope it makes a interesting read………
If you didn’t know the basic idea of crazy taxi is to pick up and drop people off. It may sound a bit boring at first but once you have played it you will agree it is great. As there are no rules you can drive on the wrong side of the road, do big skids and get big air. The freedom of the game is amazing. You do what you want when you want.
In the game there are four different cab drivers to choose from. They each have their on individual cab. Each cab is good at its own thing. For example one may be able to stop really quickly or another may be able to go very fast. The four cabbies are B.D. Joe, Jena, Gus and axle. Axle is the best all round cabbie although Guses car is probably the fastest!
There are two different levels in the dreamcast version of crazy taxi, the arcade version and the original version(I personally prefer the arcade). Anyway, Both levels are incredible dense. There are loads of people hanging around waiting to be picked up. As said previously there are plenty of places where you can get some big air. You shouldn’t have any problems navigating the levels you just have to go where the customer wants to go. Before you start playing the game you have to choose which mode you want. You can choose form: There are four different game modes for each level. Play by arcade rules: Select this option to play according to the same rules as in the arcade. Work for three minutes: Play freely for 3 minuets Work for five minutes: Play freely for 5 minutes Work for ten minutes: Play freely for 10 minutes
The other form of game play is the crazy box. The idea of this is to complete tasks to get onto the next level and eventually unlock a secret cab. Here is some information on the levels: Crazy jump: Jump your cab off of a fly off ramp and land past the k point. Crazy flag: Reach the flag located directly behind the cab within the time limit. Crazy balloons: Pop all the balloons within a time limit. Crazy drift: Earn more then a 15 total combo within the time limit. Crazy turn: Deliver the customer to there location within the time limit. Crazy bound: Deliver the customer to there destination without falling into the see. Crazy rush: Deliver all customers to there destination within the time limit. Crazy jam: Deliver the customers to there destination going through the highly congested traffic. Crazy pole: Deliver all customers to there destination within the time limit. However once you have complete all of these seven more tasks become unlocked and also are needed to be completed to get the secret cab.
The graphics on this game are great. The cabs are beautifully animated and so are the drivers. The people wandering around are a bit rectangular but that doesn’t really matter. Everything in the game is 3D.
The game also has a great soundtrack from the likes of the offspring and bad religion. Its really great punk music.
The game can be used in 50hz or 60hz and there is a test to see if your T.V. can take 60hz. The following accessories can be used I the game: · VMU (Visual memory) · Vibration (Rumble pack) · V.G.A. (Computer monitor
I would conclude that this game is great and that it is one of the best games on the dreamcast. It is now only £19.99 at H.M.V and it is quite rare to see a copy so get it while you can. Thanks for reading Edd.
Advantages: Great Graphics and sound, Original concept Disadvantages: Small Lifespan, will get boring quickly
I first played Crazy Taxi on my brothers Dream Cast, and after hearing mixed reviews, I was pleasanltly surprised when I first started playing. The presentation of the game was top notch with crisp graphics, cool voice overs from a manic american and a funky sound track with songs from The Offspring and alike. The game has many different play modes. The idea of the game is drive your taxi round two cities picking up customers and delivering them ... ...Store, Tower Records or Kentucky Fried Chicken! The quicker you do it the more points you get. The different play modes include the arcade mode which is you have a time limit and every tme a customer is delivered the time limit is extended. The game mode is where you have a certain time limit which you can choose to make as much CRAAZZZYYYYY money as possible. Depending on how much money you make, you are given a grade to show how well you have done.

I first played crazy taxi at a freinds house. We were just sittin there wondering what to do with ourselves, and he all of a sudden, just came up with the idea of playing this game.
"OK", said I. So we did. We then played some more, and some more and some more. "Why didn't you mention you had this earlier you foolish boy??" I said.
Anyway, the games addictiveness had really got hold of the both of us. The idea of the game is very simple, but because ... ...This is where the CRAZY taxi comes from. If you just trundled along the roads, you'd get nowhere. Cross country maniac driving is whats needed. No matter whats there, you have to get by, under, through it, just so that you can keep the customers happy.
You must pick customers up by stopping within a certain distance from them. There are obviously hundreds of people in the 2 cities within the game. Your customers however will be highlighted, so there ...

Advantages: Wicked graphics, decent soundtrack featuring The Offspring and Bad Religion. Disadvantages: Not highly realistic.
WARNING!! THIS IS A HIGHLY INFECTIOUS AND ADDICTIVE GAME!! A friend of mine introduced me to this game about a year ago. I have to say it is the best driving game I have ever played. The idea of the game is to pick up customers (circled with red, orange, yellow or green on the screen - the green pay the most money, the red pay the least) and take them to their destination as quickly as possible, by any means. Don't worry - it is impossible to run ... ...the motorway, it is advisable to drive on the wrong side, against the traffic(!?). If you are careful you should be able to drive straight between the to lanes. The idea of this is to make more money. You should drive past other vehicles as close as possible without touching them - this means the customer will pay more. There are also various jumps to earn money. On the arcade mode, extra money and time is given when you reach the customers destination ...

Crazy Taxi is a really original game. It was spawned in the arcades a few years back, and I only ever played it once. But such was the originality and fun of that one go that it stuck in my head as a game I wanted to play again. So when the inevitable (it was a SEGA arcade game) Dreamcast release came about I was very excited. I got it not long after I got my Dreamcast and I was amazed.
If you’re not sure, Crazy Taxi is a driving game where ... ...important thing about any game, Crazy Taxi’s Gameplay is sumptuous. The smoothness of the car handling and the way it takes the roads is excellent. It clearly hasn’t had the thought put into handling and car design of a game like Metropolis Street Racer for example, but this isn’t a driving sim, it’s an out and out arcade game. The emphasis is on fun, fast furious fun. The game is split between 2 cities, both fictional but ...

Advantages: Great graphics and fun gameplay Disadvantages: Not enough characters
To many, paying £30 to drive around in a taxi doesn?t sound too appealing, but CrazyTaxi 2 proves everyone wrong.
CrazyTaxi 1 was a great success and has been converted to PS2 and Gamecube to prove it. If CrazyTaxi 2 lived up to its older brother, then it would be a good a game as any on the Dreamcast.
CrazyTaxi 2 has an improved game structure, meaning that it doesn?t let you play the arcade modes until you have completed key parts of the training.
CRAZY PYRAMID
This is the training zone for everyone new to CrazyTaxi. This area is full of mini fun activities that are vital for you to become a taxi legend.
Each stage gets progressively harder, and more and more addictive. There are about 20 mini lessons before you take the final test ? satisfying 33 customers in 6minutes.
Crazy Pyramid is very challenging later ...
Advantages: Fast. Entertaining in groups. Disadvantages: Not much difference from the first
Arcade conversions are geat fun if they are entertaining. However CrazyTaxi 2 is such an accurate port from arcade to Dreamcast that ot has turned into a heap of frustrating rubbish. Each game lat far too short a time which although ok in an arcade (Money grabbing) is not very entertaining.
If you own the first CrazyTaxi then keep your money in your pocket and avoid this game.
The game consist of driving round a large city picking up passangers in your taxi and taking them to there destinantio as quickly as possible by jumping red lights, driving on the wrong side of the road ( or right side for us brits) , driving across parks and jumping over cars.
The graphics are superb and the sound track is again of a high standard. Personally though I expected a lot more from this sequal . There are a few little sub ga,es to play like ...
Advantages: very fun, new levels Disadvantages: none
Is it just me or is driving a taxi at insanely fast speeds through crowded, busy streets and taking passengers to place extremely fun? I think not. CrazyTaxi 2 is the sequel to an acclaimed title which was one of the star releases for the Dreamcast, by Sega. Both CrazyTaxi and CrazyTaxi 2(CT&CT2 from now on) are made by Sega and both feature highly addictive and enjoyable gameplay, and yes, your mother won't mind. What truly separates these two titles? Read on to find out.
CT2 differs from CT in only a few areas when it comes to gameplay. The most noticeable part is the Crazy Pyramid and the new levels. The Crazy Pyramid is just like the Crazy Box from the original CT. In which you would play special games, like driving passengers to a place in under 2 minutes, etc. In Crazy Pyramid, the same thing is in place, the main ...
