soundtrack. Sega ported it over to the Dreamcast where it sold by the bucket load, and now it's available for the PS2. And it's superb. The aim of the game is simple: drive a ludicrously fast taxi and make oodles of cash as quickly as possible.Taking one of four drivers, each with their own skill set, the player needs to locate and pick up potential passengers, all of whom are identified by the appearance of a coloured dollar symbol above their head. From that point on it's a race against time through crowded streets to get the passenger to their destination while picking up healthy tips for speed on the way. Tips can be increased through the execution of stupidly dangerous stunts and the cunning use of the short cuts and back alleys the game offers. There are three major modes of play, offering the cityscape of the arcade original, a world created especially for the console versions of the game, and the oddly named Crazy Box mode, which sets a number of challenges ranging from high-speed ski-jumps to water balloon popping--an interesting if slightly unusual addition.Graphically,Crazy Taxiis a treat. Big, bold vehicles fairly rocket around the streets of the sprawling city, which has environments ranging from shopping malls to freeways and beaches. Everything shifts along at a fairly steady 60 fps and the only gripe is the pop-up at long distance, which is irritating but doesn't ultimately doesn't affect gameplay. Sound is excellent, with some thumping skate-punk tunes provided by the Offspring and friends and comedy backchat from the cab drivers and their passengers. Prolonged play may take the edge off this hilarity, but only time will tell. What's sadly missing is any kind of multi-player facility.Crazy Taxiis strictly single player. This isn't really an issue (especially after closing time when the living room's packed with prospective Travis Bickles all patiently waiting a turn), but the ability for a two player Vs mode would have been the icing on the cake. This game certainly isn't aGran Turismoor aFormula 1 2001. There's not even a hint of simulation and the real world never gets a look-in. Instead, this is pure, blissful arcade entertainment.

Advantages: Crazy Disadvantages: Some of the tricks i havent grasped yet
...are basically 4 types of crazy moves *Crazy Dash* - driving fast, *Crazy Drift* - Make the cab execute a sliding drift (im a pro at this move) *Crazy Back Dash* - Thrust your cab in reverse and floor it and finally *Crazy Back Drift* - Spinning your cab into 180 degrees to change direction - wicked move.
~The game~
In Arcade/Original mode you have to pick up as many passengers as possible in the time allowed, follow the arrows ... ...well as doing as many crazy moves as possible to enable you to get there. On the top right hand of the screen there is your fare indicator telling you have much you have earnt so far and how much the present fare is, on the left hand side of the screen is how long you have to get this person to their destination and how long you have left to get through as many passengers as possible.
Bob and weave duck and dive is the aim of the game - weave you taxi through these mad streets, mind the people and get your fare - the more money you make the better it is, and the faster you get these people to their destination the better it is for you too.
So what the hell am i talking about? Well the game ~Crazy Taxi~ for the PS2.... the blurb on the back of the game simply states "Prepare for the craziest cab ride of you life" and true it is. You have to be the craziest drive to earn the most money in a limited amount of time and to do this it means, dodging people, hitting other cards, swerving round corners, going under water and even jumping people in order to acheive this, time is money and money is time.

~Drivers~ There are 4 different drivers you can choose from:
Axel is a young chappy from all accounts and is very hot tempered he became a cabbie because he saw it as a cool profession and he drives a 60's era classic cab;
Gena she is a young female (My brother reckons about 20) and she is cool and sexy with a huge passion for cars, hence the reason she came a cabbie.
Then there is B.D Joe who is a friendly and cheeful chap, my fave cab dirver for this game and he is always smiling and laughing, he thrives on making his customers happy and always gets them to their destination on time (well usually).
And the final cabbie is Gus a huge man around 40 years old (looks a bit like my dad) he uses the term "cool" a lot and is definatly "a Crazy cabbie" he drives a 1955 jalopy.
Then we move onto what are called ~Crazy box modes~
This features various mini games for you to improve your cab driving skills, but is also a sure fire way to get you really annoyed when you cant complete the tasks!! Trust me, WW3 happened here on Christmas day and the PS2 nearly got it!!
*Crazy Jump* - You have to get the cab to go down this ramp like a bat out of hell and jump past the point which says K about 150m however i have never passed 133.4M and it is really annoying me now!! Im close to finding some cheats.......grrrrrrr
*Crazy Flag* - Basically drive across the beach as fast as possbile and locate the flag withing the allocated time - east peasy.
*Crazy Balloons* - sent me crazy - you have about 1minute to pop 30 balloons within this time
*Crazy Drift* - Drift along and get the extra points
*Crazy Turn* - Get the customer to their destination double fast within the time limit - good practise round
*Crazy Bound* - Dont fall into the ocean when driving this customer - instant failure
*Crazy Rush* - Get all 5 peolpe to their destination double fast within the time limit - always pushed for time on this but it is possible
*Crazy Jam* - Get all 3 people to their destination through the most horrendous traffic jams within the time limit - drive hell for leather they all deem to move out of the way sooner or later - havent managed it yet though
*Crazy pole* - Get all the customers to their destination in the time allowed.
There are also numerous options within this such as sound control, time settings - make them longer for some things, traffci difficulty - either have it hard ro have it easy, SE control up or down.
Thats about it, well as far as i have got with it anyway

...that they have already released crazy taxi 2 on the dream cast for I don’t know what reason.
The other thing is that sometimes people walk through the car.
Playability & Enjoyment:
The game is very fun with friends or family to see who can last the longest in arcade mode or who can get the best license, or pick up the most customers.
The game has a very sunny and bright atmosphere to go around the city, which is very big.
There is also ... ...be added to the original crazy box.
Once you have completed the entire crazy box you will get the crazy bike.
It is very fun because the city is very big to go round in and if you go the wrong way you’ll probably get lost.
Addictiveness: The game is very fun and it is hard to stop playing because it is so fun and enjoyable.
Once you have mastered the moves you would want to keep on playing again to do better, like trying to master a crazy ...

Advantages: fun Disadvantages: frustrating (not very though!)
...start at the beginning - Crazy Taxi has been going for yonks - at least a couple of years as a console game - it was first brought out in that medium on the Dreamcast (great console - tragedy and unexplainable that it failed) and I have been a fan since literally day one of that.
The premise is very simple - you pick up passengers and drive them to where they want to go (accompanied by the funky strains of Offspring) and they pay you - not exactly ... ...50 seconds to make some crazy money!
You get bonus tips for performing crazy manoeuvres - such as the crazy drift (sliding round a corner), the crazy through (travelling dangerously close to other vehicles but managing not to hit them!) and the crazy jump (off slopes, buildings and carefully positioned ramps) - give your passengers an adrenaline rushed thrill and they'll give you loads of cash!
You can pick up four different difficulties of passenger: ...

Advantages: Fast action, thrilling gameplay, fun, oh and the punks! Disadvantages: Soundtrack sometimes gets annoying
Crazy Taxi started off life as an incredibly entertaining and fun arcade game and very little has changed since. It has travelled a long, entertaining and thoroughly enjoyable journey through the charred remains of the Dreamcast before making its presence firmly felt on the PS2. Crazy taxi is a candidate for one of the most inventive games ever but the again it is from Sega the undisputed master of weird but excellent games. Crazy Taxi is at heart ... ...odd very unrealistic twists and Crazy taxi is no exception. You are presented at first with the Sega logo appearing on your PS2, which it has to be said, gives you a rather smug and contented feeling. There are 4 taxis altogether to choose from and although this may not sound like much, the way they drive and handle are genuinely different from each other. The outward appearance of the 4 cab drivers immediately gives you a feel of what is to come ...

Crazy taxi Jump in, this is the craziest game on the dream cast and ps2, pick up priests, cleaners and many more then drop them off at there stop and take there money. Who would of thought you would of got payed more for swerving in front of lorries and cars?
The very notion that you get to drive your own cab and make money from it and then your wowed again when you start playing on it.
When they gave it the name crazy taxi they weren’t joking! ... ...The third is called crazy box, this is where you do mini games like ten pin bowling and longest jump in your car.
Graphics
You will be surprised of the great graphics for a game mad a good five years ago, this is because it was made by sega for the arcades. On ps2 its much better with the controls and you don’t have to pay £1 every time you want a go. You get to run around to fully designed cities and pick up real looking people.

with Virtua Tennis! So, if you own a PS2, and perhaps feel like spending your 'hard earned' cash on something that'll last you more than an evening, get CrazyTaxi!
Judging by the graphics on the Dreamcast version, the big black box is going to perform wonders, hopefully showing it's true potential, with a decent hybrid racing game arriving before the mighty (let's pray) Gran Turismo 3 A spec lands in Europe.
It's a fresh idea, that even after a year still remains a highly playable tool of relaxation - choose your cab, forget the rules (there are none!) and make that $ sign your number one objective! Pick up the passengers, laugh, maybe grumble at their obtrusive comments like 'Hey, can't you park a little closer?' & 'You're one crazy driver!' of course, my favourite has to be 'watch it fool!' oh yes, it all brings back memories of my past ...
Advantages: Great graphics and fun gameplay Disadvantages: Not enough characters
To many, paying £30 to drive around in a taxi doesn?t sound too appealing, but CrazyTaxi2 proves everyone wrong.
CrazyTaxi 1 was a great success and has been converted to PS2 and Gamecube to prove it. If CrazyTaxi2 lived up to its older brother, then it would be a good a game as any on the Dreamcast.
CrazyTaxi2 has an improved game structure, meaning that it doesn?t let you play the arcade modes until you have completed key parts of the training.
CRAZY PYRAMID
This is the training zone for everyone new to CrazyTaxi. This area is full of mini fun activities that are vital for you to become a taxi legend.
Each stage gets progressively harder, and more and more addictive. There are about 20 mini lessons before you take the final test ? satisfying 33 customers in 6minutes.
Crazy Pyramid is very challenging later ...
Advantages: Still great fun Disadvantages: Getting on a bit
Summer 2000: CrazyTaxi is unleashed on DC, one of the first games on the console that truly screamed out " Buy me, you iditot, Buy me". It left many a non-DC owner greener with jealousy than a toad's butt. Sure, DC games had been hot before, but nothing compared to this, explosion of color, mullet rock and raw, adrenaline-pumping gameplay that was CrazyTaxi. A year has passed since then, a year that has dragged for those Sony stalwarts holding out for PS2, barely able to surprise their secret longing for Kerr-azy money. And now two questions raise themselves: is Acclaim's CrazyTaxi still the supremely playable chunk of motor madness it once was, and how does the PS2 version compare to Sega's own home version?
Fare-grabbing in these sun-drenched streets is no place for shrinking violets. Thus, CrazyTaxi features an impressive ...
