Why is the hardest part of a review the start?
Lets start with how they look.
All the speakers are jet black, The satellite speakers and right/left speakers are all quite small with a height of about 10cm width about 6cm and depth about 8cm. They have the standard mesh which can be removed to leave a bare black surface with an aluminium coloured disk surrounding the speaker.
The centre speaker is a slightly elongated version of these.
The sub-woofer is one of the biggest I have seen on PC speakers. At least 30cm high and deep and about 18 wide. It has a large speaker mesh on once face covering almost the entire case and a hole on the front, I don't know what they call the hole.
The connections for the speakers all run into the sub-woofer and there are cables included for 5.1 and 7.1 systems. The back of the sub-woofer is nicely colour coded as are the cables for attaching to the woofer and computer.
The cables are also particularly long, which is generally a good thing but has caused a rather large collection of wires to be hiding behind my desk, which makes cleaning behind it awkward. The set comes with a rather large transformer for powering the system, I should imagine it is quite power hungry.
There is a wired remote control, personally I wouldn't call it a remote, more of an extended control, at first I was a bit disappointed when I saw the wires, but I am very happy with it, it has a large volume dial and a large Bass dial, it can also be turned off via the volume dial, the dials light up when the speakers are powered. There is a headphone jack for HD surround headphones, and a microphone jack, the control is fixed to my desk making it very easy to use when I use the computer. Having the sockets on the remote for headphones etc., make it much easier than reaching around the back of the sub woofer or computer to plug your headphones in.

Most games, films, music etc. seem to play in 5.1 however the amp built into the speakers adapts it to 7.1, even if you only have a 5.1 sound card. I don't really think that these speakers add to the sound quality of having 5.1's just the loudness, the room coverage would probably be the same with 5.1's for example in games where you can tell which direction someone is coming from with 5.1's, you cant really get a better idea of where they are with 7.1's, this may change however as nearly every game I have ever played is set up for 5.1 sound.
I use these with an on-board soundcard, with realtek HD drivers. I should imagine the sound quality would be better with a dedicated creative labs soundcard. Even with my on-board sound card, the sound is sublime.
"The front satellites incorporate tweeters and mid-range drivers for detailed mid-to-high tonality, and the reinforced wood subwoofer provides dynamic bass. The front centre speaker has extra amplification for improved dialogue and effects."
I'm not entirely sure what that means as I am definitely no phonophile, all I can say is that means it sounds sublime, I've had decent 5.1 systems before this, but the sound quality from the system is simply amazing, I can put it on full power, which believe me is loud and there is simply no quality loss whatsoever. If you buy these speakers unless you live in a large field with no houses for several miles, I would not recommend doing that. The pitch and tone sound perfect to my uneducated ears, When playing games the sounds surround you, you may have to take the time to set up the distance of your speakers to get timings perfect, but believe me it's worth it.
Now... Lets talk Bass.
Ouch
That's it really, I have my bass on minimum 99% of the time, because I live in a fairly urban area and well, I just can't turn it on. it's a shame really. The first film I turned the bass on was flags of our fathers, I had accidentaly turned the bass on about halfway, because it seemed for some reason low. This was obviously just the fact that there was no bass at that point on the film, because as soon as the battleships started pounding the shores of an island with their big guns, I thought WW2 had started all over again, to say I was caught by surprise was an understatement, I now know where the saying "jumped out of my skin" comes from.
I have only ever played bass that high or higher very few times, the windows shake, the floor shakes,, hell.. I shake.
One minor point worth making however is that the only time I've ever played it on full, on a very bassy song the speakers cut out, I'm not sure if that's just because the Sub was on an Argos desk and was bouncing a bit violently.
As you might be able to tell, I am very happy with the sound quality of these speakers.
Ease Of Install --------------------
The speakers themselves require no drivers to run, but your soundcard will need to be 5.1 or 7.1 and should autodetect the speakers attached Most sound cards come with colour-coded sockets so the wires are easy to attach, the speaker wires are nice and long. 3x2metres 2x5 metres and 2x7metres. My room is quite large and the 2 rear speakers are slightly too short to place where I would like them, however they should be extendible with speaker wire if needed and most rooms would never need wires over 7m long.
The speakers come with stands which are metal and not obligatory. They also can be fixed to the walls with screws included.
What's in the Box? ------------------------
Well, I don't know sorry, I have the OEM version of these speakers, which means they came in a plain box with only the basic speakers stands and screws, however this was all I needed, they only came with a very basic sheet of paper no manual, but in the standard retail version a manual should be included.
Price & Availability: ------------------------
The OEM version of these speakers are available at ebuyer for £59.99 with free postage. This is the cheapest I have seen, The full retail version is available at most PC outlets ranging upwards of £79.99 for the price no other speaker system compares.
Overall: ----------
I am very happy with these speakers, they cover my needs entirely, the sound as i have mentioned is simply sublime, the bass is scary, the set-up extremely easy, a great look, a great price. great length wires, good size.
only possible downsides maybe that they could be power hungry, I shall use my amp-metre with them next time I use them on low-med-high and post the info here and for me the rear speaker wires were a tiny bit short. Oh also the time the bass was on full and volume on full they cut out slightly, but I think that was more to do with the surface they were on.
Advantages: Great sound quality, Great volume output, Great value for money Disadvantages: Wired so plenty of cable ties will be needed in certain layout situations.

Bearing in mind I was pretty impressed with the sound on my standard motherboard but as I was wanting the best gaming performance possible I needed to take as much processing power away from my CPU as I could so a sound card would be perfect as it will handle the sound processing (obviously) ...

...the old one, including the Creative Inspire T7900 sound system. When I listen to music through my computer I only listen through two of the speakers (left and right) and the subwoofer, as they are quite full on. However, when you connect them to the TV and listen through all seven speakers it delivers a fantastic sound experience and considering they're now under £100, its well worth the money.
The main speakers are small and well designed to fit ... ...room and won't look ridiculous. The subwoofer is relatively small compared to most and will easily look the part in any room. It's just a well designed system overall. The only real setback is the cabling, there is an awful lot of it and if your using the system with your PC, then it can get quite cluttered.
Now, the sound quality. Well, it's just superb. The main speakers are very clear and capable of keeping the sound crisp at high volumes, which ...

Advantages: Loud, crisp, don't distort Disadvantages: Have to be postitioned perfectly
I bought these speakers about a week ago from ebuyer.com for £57 (the OEM version), and am so far very impressed. I used to own a cheap set of 5.1 speakers, so upgrading to 7.1 seemed a good idea. It's useful to note that most films are only 5.1 so not all 7 speakers will get used. These speaks however are very, very good. The sound is crisp and doesn't distort when you turn the volume up, which is quite something given the very low price of these. ... ...took 2 hours to set up with a sound card too - they must've been going very slowly because it's very simple to work out. If you buy the OEM version, all you get is the speakers, but really, it probably makes more sense. The speakers are very loud if you turn them right up, and perform well in games, especially if you have a decent sound card, I recommend one from Creatives Fatlity series. The bass will shake your floor and when playing games they ...

Advantages: Easy to set up, looks nice, external volume control =D Disadvantages: Scarry when taken out of box (so many wires)
The title reflects my first thoughts when I opened the OEM version of the speakers. The OEM version means that they are meant to come with a unbuilt or newly built computer and so arrive with nothing more than a sheet of paper telling you briefly what to do.
However once I had unpacked everything and laid it out on the floor I started to understand.
Total setup took under 2 hours (that included installing the sound card).
When i started up the ... ...was amazing. The best thing is the external volume control which allows you to plug in headphones and add a line in input rather than fiddling around the back of the computer. Also the volume control has its own base control which means if you want to rock the house..you can.
So far i still haven't put the volume control higher than about 10% as it is amazingly loud even then.
Great value for money. ...

SOUND CARD
No options here. There's integrated audio with Dolby Digital 7.1 capability included in the price and that's your lot. I've got no qualms with this one though and in fairness - how much can you expect to build on such a cheap and basic PC?!
SPEAKERS
Choose from no speakers (included in the price), Dell A225 stereo speakers for £5.87, Dell A525 speakers with subwoofer for £23.50, Dell 5650 5.1 surround speaker system for £41.12, CreativeInspireT7900 7.1 speaker system for £81.07, Dell AS501 soundbar for £35.25 or Logitech Z-5400 5.1 for £186.82. I apologise if this sounds OTT but who in their right mind would spend nearly £200 for speakers on a £300 PC? For goodness sakes buy a stereo! I opted for the sensible £5.87 basic speakers here and I've not been disappointed. They ...
